Junior Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Junior Consultant to join our Obstetrics & Gynecology team. This role is ideal for a dedicated medical professional who is ready to take on a broad range of clinical responsibilities, from patient care and documentation to performing essential procedures. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with senior consultants to provide exceptional care to our patients, ensuring the highest standards are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Management & Care Plans:
• Inform the concerned consultant immediately upon patient admission.
• Perform and meticulously document patient history and physical examinations.
• Formulate a differential diagnosis and develop an initial, documented plan of care based on established protocols.
• Modify the daily plan of care as needed and write clear, concise daily progress notes.
• Documentation & Administration:
• Obtain and document informed consent from patients.
• Prepare an appropriate discharge summary and thoroughly explain all discharge orders to the patient.
• Write the daily duty report, ensuring a proper written handover and takeover.
• Fill out insurance forms for the consultant's signature.
• Clinical Procedures & Investigations:
• Perform preoperative workup for patients.
• Order appropriate investigations, medications, and transfusions of blood and blood products.
• Interpret lab and radiology results, as well as hemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients.
• Perform essential procedures such as pelvic examinations and Pap smears.
• Be competent in performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Perform nasogastric intubation and insert urethral catheters.
• Specialized Care:
• Order and adjust artificial feeding modalities as required.
• Manage patients in the labor room, adhering to established Labor Room Protocol.

Educational Qualifications

• A medical degree (MBBS) and a postgraduate qualification (MD/DNB) in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• A valid medical license to practice.

Required Skills

• Clinical Acumen: Strong knowledge of obstetrics, gynecology, and surgical procedures.
• Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in formulating differential diagnoses and interpreting complex medical data.
• Procedural Skills: Competence in performing a range of procedures, from basic examinations to CPR and intubation.
• Documentation: Meticulous attention to detail in all forms of medical documentation, including care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, their families, and the wider medical team.
• Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively and effectively under the supervision of senior consultants.
