Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist based in Hyderabad. The role involves providing outpatient and inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care, including antenatal assessments, intrapartum management, postnatal follow-up, and routine gynecologic consultations. The Junior Consultant will assist and, where appropriate, independently perform deliveries, cesarean sections, and common gynecologic procedures under the supervision of senior consultants, adhering to hospital protocols and clinical guidelines. Daily responsibilities include conducting ward rounds, reviewing investigation results, documenting care accurately, participating in emergency on-call duties, and coordinating with nursing, anesthesia, neonatology, and other specialties. The role also includes counseling patients and families, contributing to quality improvement activities, attending clinical meetings, and participating in continuing medical education and training programs.
Qualifications
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and completed postgraduate qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (e.g., MD, DNB, DGO or equivalent), with current registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant medical council.
- Clinical competence in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including management of normal and high-risk pregnancies, basic obstetric ultrasound interpretation, and common obstetric emergencies.
- Skills in routine gynecologic evaluation and management, including menstrual disorders, infections, contraception, and participation in gynecologic procedures and surgeries as per experience level.
- Strong patient counseling and communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic, culturally sensitive care and clear explanations to patients and families.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, accurate medical documentation, adherence to infection control, and participation in clinical audits and quality initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, manage time efficiently, handle on-call and shift duties, and remain composed in high-pressure clinical situations.
