Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology based in Chandigarh. The Junior Consultant will participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient rounds, emergency obstetric and gynecological care, and assist in labor management and delivery, including both normal and high-risk cases. Responsibilities include performing and assisting in gynecological procedures and surgeries, managing antenatal and postnatal care, and ensuring accurate documentation in medical records and hospital systems. The role involves collaborating closely with senior consultants, anesthesiology, pediatrics, nursing, and support teams to provide coordinated, patient-centered care. The Junior Consultant will also contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, on-call duties, and patient and family counseling in line with hospital protocols.

Qualifications

  • Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (e.g., MD/MS/DNB) with valid registration from the appropriate medical council.
  • Clinical experience in managing antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including normal and high-risk pregnancies, and exposure to obstetric emergencies.
  • Competence in performing and assisting with common gynecological procedures and surgeries, and interpreting relevant diagnostic tests and imaging.
  • Strong patient communication, counseling, and empathy skills, with the ability to support individuals and families in sensitive and high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, follow clinical protocols, and adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment with rotating shifts and on-call duties.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, infection control, and continuous professional development.
  • Prior experience in a tertiary care or specialty women and children's hospital is an advantage.
  • Basic computer proficiency for electronic medical records and hospital information systems.
