- Robust API Engineering
- Design, build, and debug RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI preferred, Flask acceptable)
- Structure requests/responses that are fast, validated, and error-free
- Use Pydantic for JSON schema validation across all endpoints
- AI Service Integration & Prompt Engineering
- Connect backend services to LLMs Gemini (Vertex AI), GPT-4 (OpenAI API), and Claude
- Write and iterate on system prompts using Chain-of-Thought and other structured reasoning techniques
- Keep AI outputs grounded in factual, user-specific data no hallucinations shipped to prod
- Version and test prompts using Promptfoo or equivalent frameworks
- Database & Data Logic
- Manage PostgreSQL schemas, write optimised SQL queries, and design relational data models
- Build the logic layer that connects DB results to AI prompts for context-aware responses
- Implement proper indexing, query optimisation, and data integrity practices
- System Debugging & Stability
- Actively monitor API performance and fix bottlenecks before users notice
- Audit and correct AI hallucinations understand root cause, not just symptoms
- Write Pytest-based test coverage for critical business logic
- Cloud Deployment
- Deploy and maintain services on GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Secret Manager)
- Work with AWS where needed (Lambda, ECS, RDS, App Runner)
