Position Summary:
Join athenahealth as a Junior Anaplan Model Builder and help improve the financial planning tools that support forecasting, reporting, and decision-making across FP&A. In this role, you will build, maintain, and enhance Anaplan models and related processes in partnership with Accounting, FP&A, IT, and Internal Audit. You will help turn business needs and spreadsheet-based processes into scalable planning solutions while supporting data quality, governance, and user experience. This role is based in Bengaluru, India, with a hybrid work arrangement and reports to Kassel Nightt.
About the Team:
The FP&A team supports decision-making from executive strategy through day-to-day operational planning by analyzing financial results and developing forecasts. Within FP&A, the Center of Excellence Transformation team focuses on improving forecasting and reporting capabilities across people, process, and technology. The team partners closely with Accounting, IT, Internal Audit, and other FP&A users to support Anaplan and adjacent tools in the finance planning ecosystem. You will be part of a six-person Model Builder team based in the U.S. and India.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Build and enhance Anaplan models that support revenue recognition, forecasting, reporting, and related finance processes.
- Partner with Accounting and FP&A users to gather requirements, identify process gaps, and translate business needs into system solutions.
- Design, test, and maintain multi-dimensional model functionality following standard development and documentation practices.
- Modify existing models to improve performance, functionality, and user experience across Anaplan pages and AnaplanXL.
- Define data integration and scheduling requirements with IT and support ETL-related workflows using tools such as Informatica and Anaplan Data Orchestrator.
- Support data validation and reconciliation activities, including working with data owners on staging and load best practices.
- Partner with Internal Audit to help maintain a compliant environment, including user access and model revision reviews.
- Research, document, and resolve model, process, and user questions escalate issues to Anaplan support when needed.
- Communicate progress, issues, and milestones clearly through team meetings, written updates, and ad hoc collaboration.
- Use AI-enabled tools to help organize requirements, draft documentation, summarize issues, and speed up routine analysis while confirming outputs are accurate before sharing.
- Travel required 10-15% annually.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Support hierarchy governance activities, including monthly review files and bulk data updates.
- Contribute to team learning by staying current on Anaplan platform updates and related model-building practices.
- Assist with certification growth and other professional development activities as needed.
- Participate in team hackathons, process improvements, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Help maintain documentation for models, processes, and support procedures.
- Support short-term projects and enhancements as assigned.
Expected Education & Experience:
- 1+ years of experience building models in Anaplan or a comparable planning system.
- Anaplan Level 1 Model Building certification required.
- Experience with at least one full Anaplan implementation lifecycle required.
- Working knowledge of financial analysis, planning, modeling, and reporting concepts.
- Demonstrated experience with modules, imports and exports, and ALM in Anaplan.
- Experience with Anaplan Polaris, Anaplan Data Orchestration, Workflows, or AnaplanXL preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow through on commitments.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, information systems, or a related field preferred equivalent experience may be considered.
