Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Jira Specialist & Project Manager to drive operational excellence across our development teams. This role combines deep technical expertise in Jira administration with strategic project management capabilities. You will be responsible for designing efficient workflows, optimizing team processes, and ensuring seamless project delivery through best-in-class Jira configuration and administration.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain Jira workflows, issue types, screens, and fields for development teams working on complex technical projects
• Configure and optimise Jira boards, filters, dashboards, and automation rules to enhance team productivity and visibility
• Plan and facilitate sprint ceremonies, manage product backlogs, and ensure alignment with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Train team members and stakeholders on Jira best practices, governance, and efficient usage patterns
• Integrate Jira with development tools, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, Confluence, and other project management platforms
• Create comprehensive reporting dashboards and analytics to track project health, team velocity, and delivery metrics
• Collaborate with development teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective Jira configurations
• Continuously evaluate and optimise team processes, workflows, and project management practices to improve efficiency
Required Qualifications
• Expert-level proficiency in Jira administration, configuration, and workflow management (3+ years hands-on experience)
• Strong project management experience with a proven track record of delivering technical projects on time
• Technical understanding sufficient to work effectively with software development teams and grasp technical concepts
• Experience managing AI-based projects, ML workflows, or code-intensive Jira projects
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders across technical and business functions
• Demonstrated expertise in Agile and Scrum methodologies with practical sprint management experience
• Proficiency in JQL (Jira Query Language) for creating complex filters and reports
Preferred Qualifications
• Jira certifications (Atlassian Certified Professional, Jira Administrator, or Project Administrator)
• Deep familiarity with software development lifecycle, DevOps practices, and modern development workflows
• Experience with Jira plugins and Atlassian Marketplace apps (ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, etc.)
• Understanding of AI/ML project management workflows and data science team requirements
• Experience with Confluence, Bitbucket, or other Atlassian products
• Knowledge of REST APIs and Jira automation scripting
