Position: Jira Administrator
Duration: 60–90 days (Fixed-term consulting engagement) Location: Onsite (as required)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Atlassian consulting partner or Jira administration specialist with 3+ years of experience to lead a Jira Standardization and Governance Initiative. The consultant will assess the current Jira environment, rationalize configurations, and establish a standardized operating model with clear governance, ownership, and best practices. The engagement will cover assessment, design, implementation, testing, deployment, training, and operational handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a current-state assessment of Jira projects, issue types, custom fields, workflows, screens, schemes, boards, dashboards, filters, automations, permissions, and reporting dependencies.
- Develop and implement a target-state governance framework including:
- Naming conventions, ownership, and change control
- Exception management and archive criteria
- Issue type taxonomy and workflow standards
- Field governance and mandatory field requirements
- Rationalize and implement approved configuration changes while minimizing disruption to teams, integrations (AHA, Salesforce, etc.), and reporting.
- Lead implementation activities including regression testing, UAT support, production deployment, rollback planning, and hypercare.
- Deliver comprehensive documentation including:
- Jira Administration Runbook
- Governance Handbook
- Workflow and issue type catalogs
- Change and rollback documentation
- Training materials and closure report
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven expertise in Jira administration, configuration, and governance.
- Hands-on experience with UI, API, CI/CD, and automation programs.
- Strong background in workflow design, issue type taxonomy, and field governance.
- Experience integrating Jira with AHA, Salesforce, and other enterprise systems.
- Ability to lead end-to-end delivery: assessment, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and training.
- Track record of delivering comparable engagements in enterprise environments.
