They must balance aesthetics with technical feasibility, market trends, and budget constraints.Core ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development: Conceptualize new jewellery lines, producing hand sketches or computer-aided designs (CAD).Production & Prototyping: Create prototypes (wax models), cast metals, set stones, and refine pieces to final production quality.Material Selection: Source and evaluate diamonds, precious stones, and metals for quality and cost.Customization: Meet with clients to discuss custom orders, creating unique, bespoke pieces.Trend Analysis: Research current fashion trends and market demands to create relevant, sellable designs.Quality Control: Ensure finished pieces meet brand standards, including cleaning, polishing, and secure setting.Required Skills and QualificationsSoftware Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Rhino, Matrix) and rendering software.Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metallurgy, gemstone setting, and manufacturing techniques.Artistic Ability: Strong drawing and design capabilities, with attention to detail.Education: A Bachelor's degree in Jewellery Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is often preferred, alongside a professional portfolio.
