About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on a groundbreaking project involving large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in developing datasets that enable LLMs to handle realistic software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories and will be responsible for hands-on software engineering tasks. Key responsibilities include automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and code quality. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to AI research by working on verifiable software engineering tasks based on synthetic approaches and human-in-the-loop methodologies, expanding dataset coverage across various programming languages and difficulty levels.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with demonstrated expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and familiarity with setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should have the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run, modify, and test real-world projects locally, and contribute to open-source projects or evaluate their quality. Previous experience in LLM research, evaluation projects, or building developer tools is considered a plus, as is experience with automation agents and testing frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source libraries on GitHub to identify challenging tasks for LLMs.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and development.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and code quality to ensure dataset reliability and robustness.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing and other software engineering scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
