About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on the development of large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is integral to building verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing synthetic approaches with human-in-the-loop methodologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of high-quality open-source repositories, particularly on GitHub, and have a passion for automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to pioneering research that bridges practical software engineering with AI advancements, shaping the future of AI-assisted development tools.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with demonstrated expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates must be comfortable navigating complex codebases, running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally. Experience contributing to open-source projects or evaluating open-source repositories is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication abilities are also required.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source libraries on GitHub to identify challenging tasks for LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment management, to facilitate testing and evaluation.
- Assess and improve unit test coverage and overall code quality within repositories.
- Modify and run codebases locally to evaluate the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design, select, and curate repositories and issues that push the boundaries of current LLM capabilities.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high standards of code quality and project delivery.
