Java Technical Lead

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Java Backend Technical Lead to drive backend architecture, lead a development team, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications. The ideal candidate should combine strong hands-on Java expertise with technical leadership, solution design, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration. This role requires someone who can own critical backend modules, guide the team through best practices, and contribute to architecture and delivery decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Own technical solutioning for backend components, ensuring scalability, maintainability, performance, and security.
• Guide and mentor developers through code reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Define backend design patterns, coding standards, and engineering best practices for the team.
• Drive microservices-based architecture and integration with external/internal systems.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide root-cause analysis with long-term fixes.
• Participate in sprint planning, effort estimation, technical grooming, and delivery tracking.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards through reviews, testing, and release readiness checks.
• Support CI/CD practices, deployment automation, and environment stability.
• Contribute to system design documentation, technical proposals, and architecture decisions.
• Lead by example in hands-on development for complex modules, proof of concepts, and critical fixes.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience in backend architecture, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and system design.
• Experience leading a team or acting as a technical mentor.
• Good understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, Agile/Scrum, and DevOps collaboration.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or Azure.
• Exposure to BFSI, fintech, enterprise SaaS, or product-based environments.
• Knowledge of API gateways, design patterns, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience working on high-availability, large-scale systems.

Experience

• 8+ years of overall experience in Java backend development.
• 2+ years of experience in a technical lead or team lead role preferred.
