ABOUT THIS ROLE:
We are a government-recognized women's western wear manufacturer based in Jaipur, Rajasthan in light woven, supplying to international and domestic buyers. We are a growth‑oriented apparel manufacturer looking for a Senior Merchandiser - to manage end‑to‑end orders for international buyers – from design interpretation and sample development to costing, production follow‑up, logistics and final shipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead sample development from tech pack / design brief: interpret buyer specs, suggest suitable fabrics, trims and construction, and coordinate proto / fit / PPS samples with sampling and technical teams.
- Prepare detailed costings, covering fabric, trims, processing, CM, overheads, logistics and margin, and support management in price negotiations with buyers and suppliers.
- Manage order execution end‑to‑end, from PO receipt to on‑time shipment, including T&A planning, critical path tracking and proactive risk management.
- Coordinate closely with fabric mills, printers, dyeing and washing units, and accessory suppliers for booking, approvals and on‑time in‑house of all materials.
- Drive all buyer approvals: fabrics, lab dips, strike‑offs, trims, fits, size sets, PP samples and TOP samples, ensuring alignment with tech packs and testing requirements.
- Liaise daily with production, planning and quality teams to monitor line status, resolve issues, and ensure quality and delivery as per buyer standards.
- Work on margin analysis for each order, track cost overrun/ savings and provide inputs to management for continuous cost optimization.
- Maintain accurate merchandising data and documentation (T&A, order trackers, costing sheets, approvals, test reports, shipment docs) in the company ERP and Excel.
- Build and sustain strong professional relationships with buyers / buying houses through clear, timely communication and solution‑oriented follow‑up.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical qualification in Textiles / Fashion / Apparel Production / Garment Technology (B.Des, B.Tech, B.Sc, Diploma or equivalent) is mandatory.
- 10–15 years of relevant experience in apparel merchandising (export / domestic), with hands‑on exposure to women's or kids wear categories.
- Strong fabric and garment construction knowledge – woven/knits, washes, prints, value additions and processing costs.
- Proven expertise in costing, including yarn/fabric cost drivers, processing rates, CM, overheads, logistics and margin structuring.
- Solid understanding of production processes, quality parameters, AQL, and basic textile testing requirements.
- Experience working on ERP / PLM / merchandising systems, along with advanced Excel skills for T&A, costing and order tracking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; confident in handling direct buyer communication and negotiations.
- Highly self‑driven, organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple styles, seasons and buyers at the same time.
