Role Overview

The Senior SQL Server Developerwith hands-on experience in designs, builds, optimizes, and supports SQL Server solutions for CBA data processing, integrations, reporting, and production-ready database components. This role requires strong SQL engineering judgment, query optimization,ETL/data processing, performance awareness, secure data handling, and the ability to use AI tools responsibly as a productivity accelerator while independently reviewing,validating, and correcting all AI generated outputs.

AI capability requirement
Candidates must be able to demonstrate practical, responsible use of generative AI to accelerate SQL development, query troubleshooting, documentation, validation, and test support. AI-generated code or analysis must be reviewed, corrected, secured, and explained before use.

Primary Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and support SQL Server database objects, including stored procedures, views, functions, jobs, triggersand data processing logic.

Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into efficient, maintainable SQL solutions aligned to CBA data patterns and release processes.

Troubleshoot production and non-production data issues, including performance, correctness, data quality, and integration concerns.

Review execution plans, indexes, joins, filtering logic, transaction behavior, and data volumes to improve query performance and operational reliability.

Partner with product owners, QA/SQA, developers, architects, and support teams to validate requirements, support testing, and ensure production readiness.

Document technical designs, deployment considerations, operational dependencies, and support guidance for implemented solutions.

Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate routine development and analysis tasks, while validating correctness, security, performance, and business fit before implementation.

Mentor junior and mid-level developers and contribute to technical best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong SQL Server development skills, including joins, aggregations, window functions, stored procedures, query tuning, and execution plan analysis.

Experience with data validation, source-to-target checks, reconciliation, exception handling, and root-cause analysis for complex data issues.

Ability to work in Agile delivery cycles, provide meaningful estimates, participate in sprint planning, and support defect resolution through release.

Strong understanding of secure data handling practices, including preventing confidential, proprietary, client, colleague, production, PII, or PHI data from being entered into public AI tools.

Ability to explain technical decisions, risks, and validation outcomes to both technical and business stakeholders.

Prompt engineering

Ability to write clear prompts for SQL query generation, troubleshooting, query tuning, data validation, documentation, and testing support.

AI output validation

Ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated SQL for correctness, security, data quality, and performance before implementation.

Secure data handling

Understands that confidential, proprietary, client, colleague, production, PII, or PHI data must not be entered into public AI tools.

Preferred AI usage

Experience using AI for ETL development, report logic, analytics support, documentation generation, test case creation, or troubleshooting.
