Job Summary

The Solution Architect (Domain/Region) is responsible for defining the technical vision for the assigned solution to deliver business outcomes for the assigned region. The role aligns project and technology blueprints to enterprise standards and works with supporting functions to ensure aligned, deliverable, end-to-end designs. The role provides specifications according to which the solution is defined, managed, and delivered. This role is responsible for the quality and delivery of assurance on projects, builds out the capability roadmaps and ensures alignment to the technology strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

Design and Build

  • Provide detailed specifications on functional and non-functional requirements for proposed solutions.
  • Assess the systems architecture currently in place and work with project management and development teams to recommend improvements to the architecture.
  • Support the solution build and integration to meet the requirements of the organization.
  • Evaluate project constraints to find alternatives to the design, alleviate risks, and perform re-engineering if required.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to development teams and help resolve technical problems as they arise.
  • Stay apprised of relevant vendor/application roadmap(s), including scope of upcoming planned releases
  • Continuously research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed or add value to the solution.

Governance and Communications

  • Assess the business impact that certain technical choices have, accounting for possible project challenges on constraints including risks, time, resources, and scope.
  • Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives, as well as defining and managing expectations for proper execution.
  • Inform various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.

Architecture Community

  • Actively participate in an architectural community (e.g., Architecture Guild) to share good practice and lessons learnt from a regional perspective as well as to hone skills and master technical capabilities.
  • Deepen the Solution Architecture capability among the Domain Solution Architects.
  • Support in defining, implementing, and maintaining Global IT's application and technology standards across geographical regions.

Technical Competencies:

  • Enterprise and business architecture - Develop and maintain models and plans, to drive the execution of the strategy and contributes to the creation and review of a systems capability strategy. Determine requirements and specifies effective business processes through improvements in the enterprise architecture. Monitor compliance to strategies, policies, standards and practices.
  • Solution architecture - Develop solution architectures of low-medium complexity or in a specific business area, considering alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability. Support projects or change initiatives through the preparation of technical plans and application of design principles and standards.
  • Innovation - Develop and adapt innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation. Manage and facilitate the communication and open flow of creative ideas and the set-up of innovation networks and communities.
  • Emerging technology monitoring - Monitor the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies. Assess and documents the impacts, threats and opportunities to the Organization and create reports and roadmaps to share knowledge and insights.
  • Requirements definition and management - Define and manage scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity by facilitating input from stakeholders, providing constructive challenge and enabling effective prioritization.
  • Business process improvement - Manage the execution of business process improvements. Analyze and design business processes to identify alternative solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness and exploit new technologies and automation.
  • Systems development management - Deliver systems development projects which support the organization's objectives and plans. Monitors and reports on the progress of development projects
  • Systems design - Design system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology. Create multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and produce detailed design specifications to form the basis for the construction of systems.
  • Systems integration and build - Define and advise on the configuration of system components, collaborate with technical teams to develop and agree system integration plans, produce software build and configure the hardware and software environments. Design, perform and report results of test of the integration build.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent and related experience preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in solution design, build, deploy and maintenance.
  • Proven experience in Salesforce.com (SFDC) software engineering and design architecture
  • Experience with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc.
  • Basic understanding of business analysis techniques and processes.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in project management, process modelling, data modelling, and systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of working with business processes in the assigned domain (if applicable), preferably in medical related fields.
