The IT Retail Solution Architect is responsible for providing technical consultation, solution design, and architectural oversight for retail IT systems, in line with the Statement of Work (SOW). The role focuses on designing scalable, reliable, and high-performing retail solutions, working closely with vendors to ensure successful implementation, stable operations, and continuous improvement of retail applications and systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and architectural guidance on the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems for retail businesses, as defined in the SOW
- Act as the technical point of reference for retail IT solutions across project and operational phases.
- Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to analyse business processes and system requirements
- Design IT solutions that meet business needs while ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Review and validate solution designs and technical approaches proposed by vendors
- Oversee the implementation of retail IT systems, ensuring alignment with agreed solution architecture and quality expectations
- Provide ongoing technical support post-implementation to ensure retail systems run smoothly
- Work closely with vendors to guide maintenance activities and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support troubleshooting of complex technical issues
- Drive root-cause analysis and resolution, coordinating with vendors and relevant teams to ensure timely and effective outcomes
- Support improvement of application and system quality by providing feedback on solution design and system functionality
- Identify risks, weaknesses, and enhancement opportunities across the solution lifecycle.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in IT roles, with strong exposure to retail IT systems or enterprise applications
- Experience working in SOW-driven, vendor-based delivery environments
- Strong understanding of SDLC and application lifecycle management
- Experience with source control tools
- Good conceptual understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure and/or GCP
- Working knowledge of networking and security practices (architecture-level understanding; not required to be an SME)
- Proven ability to work with multiple vendors and cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
