Position Summary

AIMS Institutes is seeking a motivated and service-oriented IT Lab Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of computer laboratories and provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, operating systems, and software installation, along with a willingness to learn and grow in a professional academic environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesComputer Lab Management

  • Ensure all computer laboratories are operational and ready before practical sessions.
  • Monitor the functioning of desktop computers, printers, projectors, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of computer labs.
  • Assist faculty during practical classes and laboratory sessions.

Technical Support

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems and application software.
  • Install programming software, educational applications, antivirus software, and utilities.
  • Resolve basic hardware and software issues promptly.
  • Escalate major technical issues to the IT Administrator.

Hardware & Network Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspection of computer systems and peripherals.
  • Assist in assembling, upgrading, and maintaining desktop computers.
  • Support basic LAN and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Ensure internet connectivity and network availability in laboratories.

User Support

  • Provide technical assistance to students and faculty during laboratory sessions.
  • Assist in setting up computer labs for online examinations, workshops, webinars, and training programs.
  • Help users with login credentials, printing, internet access, and software usage.

Asset & Inventory Management

  • Maintain records of IT assets, software licenses, and laboratory equipment.
  • Track maintenance schedules and service records.
  • Report damaged or faulty equipment for repair or replacement.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily maintenance logs and lab usage records.
  • Prepare reports related to system maintenance and inventory.
  • Document software installations and hardware configurations.

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with institutional IT policies and data security standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of institutional data and systems.
  • Support campus-wide IT initiatives and events.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the reporting authority.

  • Computer lab readiness and uptime.
  • Timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Proper maintenance of hardware and software.
  • Accuracy of IT asset and inventory records.
  • Faculty and student satisfaction with IT support.
  • Compliance with IT policies and security procedures.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and teamwork.

QualificationsEducational Qualification

  • Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) OR
  • ITI – Computer Science / Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) / Information Technology
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Required SkillsTechnical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Basic understanding of LAN, Wi-Fi, printers, and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with software installation and system configuration.
  • Basic knowledge of C, C++, Java, Python, or database concepts will be an added advantage.
