Job Description

The client who is in the IT consultancy space is looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer who is proficient in Network Engineering, IT Infrastructure, and some exposure or willingness to dwell in presales to collaborate with the sales team. More details below!

Network Engineering

  • Design, deploy, configure, and manage enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and SD-WAN solutions.
  • Monitor network performance, proactively identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to maintain optimal availability, stability, and reliability.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, patching, firmware updates, and system upgrades to ensure network infrastructure remains secure and up to date.
  • Implement, administer, and enhance network security solutions, including firewalls, VPN technologies, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Configure and maintain core network services such as DHCP and DNS to support efficient and reliable network operations.
  • Manage and support Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for user administration, authentication, and system patch management.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to support identity management, endpoint administration, and device lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate closely with customer IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with business applications, systems, and cloud-based services.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network configurations, operational procedures, and compliance-related records.
  • Provide technical expertise, support, and guidance to internal stakeholders and end users on network and infrastructure-related matters.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in networking, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and cloud computing.
  • Support daily operational activities, project-based initiatives, ad hoc assignments, and cross-functional team engagements as required.
  • Perform end-to-end installation, configuration, backup, restoration, migration, and upgrade activities for network equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and knowledge transfer for network environments to support operational continuity, governance, and compliance requirements.

IT Infrastructure

  • Possess a broad understanding of IT infrastructure, systems administration, and support services, working closely with internal teams to deliver reliable and high-quality IT solutions to customers.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Windows Server environments and enterprise applications, with the ability to lead technology refresh initiatives such as Active Directory upgrades, file server migrations, cloud integrations, and implementation of new technology solutions.
  • Perform server hardening and security configuration in accordance with CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless planning, execution, and delivery of IT infrastructure and support services.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, server deployment, system configuration, and end-user support services.
  • Skilled in Remote Desktop Services (RDS) administration, RADIUS authentication solutions, network design, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Experienced in server operating system upgrades, server role migrations, and infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Provide support for critical maintenance activities, including after-hours, urgent, and weekend operating system or network maintenance when required for operational or project needs.
  • Deliver desktop and endpoint support services, when necessary, particularly within lean or small IT teams.
  • Support the planning, deployment, and optimization of server and infrastructure environments while ensuring stability, security, and business continuity.

Pre-sales

  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify and qualify potential opportunities for network solutions.
  • Conduct technical assessments of client requirements and translate them into effective network designs and proposals.
  • Develop and present compelling technical presentations and demonstrations to clients, showcasing our network solutions.
  • Provide expert advice on network architecture, design, and implementation best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of RFPs, RFQs, and other technical documentation as needed.
  • Engage with clients to address technical questions and concerns throughout the sales process.
  • Work closely with product management and engineering teams to stay updated on the latest technologies and solutions.
  • Participate in customer meetings, workshops, and events to promote our network offerings.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team based on client interactions and market trends.

Required experience and skills

  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent to
  • Checkpoint Harmony SASE
  • HPE Aruba SDWAN
  • Fortinet FortiGate and Secure Wireless LAN
  • Allied Telesis
  • AD migration experience
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in IT infrastructure business
