Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux-based systems supporting internal operations
and customer-facing platforms.
- Manage virtual infrastructure, including deployment and monitoring of virtual
machines (VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM).
- Deploy and maintain Docker-based container environments for production and
development systems.
- Oversee Office 365 administration, including identity management, user
provisioning, security policies, and compliance.
- Architect and manage secure, reliable network infrastructure, including VPNs,
firewalls, VLANs, and routing for local and remote access.
- Maintain and optimise AWS environments including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS,
and associated cloud services supporting HME's mining solutions.
- Implement and enforce IT security protocols aligned with best practices for
industrial and cloud-based systems.
- Conduct routine system audits, software updates, performance tuning, and
vulnerability assessments.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including
automated backup and restoration procedures.
- Collaborate closely with development, operations, and engineering teams to
support software deployments, integration with field hardware, and data
element systems.
- Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) frameworks
across cloud and enterprise systems.
- Manage version control, code repositories, and CI/CD automation pipelines in
collaboration with development teams (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions).
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure-related escalations across
international time zones.
- Maintain asset inventories, license tracking, and compliance logs.
- Coordinate and support third-party IT and security audits.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, including endpoint protection, vulnerability
scanning, and zero-trust network configurations.
- Participate in cross-team planning for infrastructure scale-up in new regions or
Mining Deployments. Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years experience in IT systems administration or infrastructure
roles, preferably in industrial or technology-driven environments.
- Proven expertise in Linux server administration (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Strong working knowledge of Docker, container orchestration, and CI/CD
pipelines.
- Experience managing virtual environments and enterprise-grade Office 365
environments.
- Deep understanding of network security, access control, and infrastructure
hardening.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud architecture.
- Ability to script and automate tasks using Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of zero-downtime deployment, fault tolerance, and
load balancing strategies.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana,
Zabbix).
- Proven ability to work across hybrid networks (LAN/WAN/cloud + field/edge
hardware environments).
Preferred Experience
- Background in mining, construction, industrial automation, or other field-based
industries with critical infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related
technical discipline.
- Industry certifications such as RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator,
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or similar credentials.
- Experience in supporting infrastructure for mining operations, real-time data
platforms, or telemetry systems will be highly regarded.
- Experience in edge computing, industrial IoT, or telemetry-driven architecture.
- Working knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC 2, or NIST cybersecurity standards.
- Experience with incident response planning and security event log correlation.
- Background supporting DevOps or SRE environments is an advantage.
