This is a technical, on-site role in Hyderabad for an IS Database Specialist responsible for managing complex database environments, specifically Oracle and PostgreSQL databases. The position involves the entire database lifecycle, from planning and implementation to performance tuning and maintenance, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and automation. You will be part of a high-performance, multi-functional, and global team, contributing to key organizational initiatives and delivering high-quality results.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Database Administration & Support: You will provide administration support for development, test, and production environments, including installation, upgrades, and performance optimization for Oracle databases. This includes managing requests and incidents, as well as recovering databases during disaster recovery support. You will also administer security access controls and perform necessary security patch implementations.
- Automation & Process Improvement: You will be responsible for automating database provisioning, patching, and administration. You will also recommend automation opportunities for operational work and process improvements.
- Performance & Troubleshooting: You will investigate and resolve technical database issues and participate in a rotational 24x7 On-Call Support schedule. You will also assist with root cause analysis when applicable.
- Collaboration & Design: You will collaborate with technical leads on database design decisions to ensure applications have high levels of performance, security, scalability, and reliability. You will follow, review, and recommend updates to support documentation as needed.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree with 4-6 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree with 6-8 years of experience, or a Diploma with 10-12 years of experience in Information Systems and Database Administration.
- Demonstrable experience administering and monitoring Oracle databases and related services.
- Experience with various toolsets to monitor, fix, and verify database and server performance metrics.
- Experience with automating database provisioning, patching, and administration.
- An understanding of ITIL frameworks and operating system tools for performance and troubleshooting.
- Experience provisioning and supporting Oracle RAC and Data Guard is a plus.
- Experience with PostgreSQL databases and leveraging Ansible for automation is also a plus.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification is preferred.
