Job Description

Role Purpose

The role is responsible for ensuring end-to-end statutory and labour law compliance across multiple project sites engaged in installation, commissioning and maintenance of Siemens Energy India Ltd product / service range like switch gears, transformers, turbines, and related infrastructure. The incumbent will act as a central compliance anchor, partnering with site teams to ensure adherence, mitigate risks, and manage regulatory interactions.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance Monitoring & Governance
  • Monitor and review monthly statutory compliance across all project sites pan-India covering, not limited to, Wages, Overtime, PF, Shops and Establishment, Interstate migrant workers, Building and Other Construction Workers, ESI, Professional Tax, Contact labour, etc
  • Develop and implement a robust compliance tracking and reporting system (dashboards, MIS, alerts).
  • Aware about changes arising from the new Labour codes (Wages, Social Security, Industrial Relations, OSH)
  • Conduct periodic compliance audits (physical/ virtual) and identify gaps with actionable closure plans.
  • Standardize compliance processes, checklists, and documentation practices across sites.
  • Advisory & Capability Building
  • Guide site Project/ HR/ IR teams and contractors on statutory requirements and compliance frameworks.
  • Provide interpretations of laws and practical solutions to operational challenges at sites.
  • Develop SOPs, compliance manuals, and toolkits for site teams.
  • Conduct training sessions/ workshops for site teams and contractors on labour law compliance and regulatory updates.
  • Regulatory Liaison & Issue Resolution
  • Monitor and review along with applicable agency for sites in obtaining registrations, licenses, and statutory approvals.
  • Assist in handling inspections, audits, and inquiries from labour authorities.
  • Guide site teams in responding to notices, show-cause letters, and legal queries.
  • Liaise with local authorities and external consultants to resolve complex compliance issues.
  • Contractor Compliance Management
  • Ensure contractors adhere to statutory obligations including wage payments, social security, and welfare provisions.
  • Implement contractor compliance evaluation and rating mechanisms.
  • Review contractor documentation and ensure compliance before onboarding and during execution.
  • Risk Management & Reporting
  • Identify compliance risks and escalate critical issues to leadership.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of compliance records and statutory filings.
  • Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management.
  • Track legal changes and proactively update internal stakeholders on implications.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Drive digitization/automation of compliance tracking systems.
  • Benchmark best practices across industry and implement improvements.
  • Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks for site compliance.
  • Key Interfaces
  • Internal: Site and Central Project Management teams, HR/ IR Teams, Legal, Finance, Procurement
  • External: Labour Authorities, Inspectors, Consultants, Contractors
  • Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Postgraduate in HR / Industrial Relations / Personnel Management (mandatory)
  • LL.B. (preferred)

Experience

  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in labour law compliance, preferably in:
    • Infrastructure / EPC / Engineering / Manufacturing sectors
    • Multi-location/site-based operations
  • Strong exposure to handling statutory compliance for project sites and contractor workforce.

  • Experience in handling inspections, litigation support, and regulatory interactions
