Hiring: IPR LAWYER

Experience: 34 years

1.IP IDENTIFICATION & RISK MAPPING

KRAs:

Conduct IP identification audits for assigned clients

Identify:

  • Trademarks
  • Copyrights
  • Trade secrets
  • Domain risks

Flag:

  • Ownership gaps
  • Co-founder / employee IP risks
  • Vendor-created IP risks

2.TRADEMARK & COPYRIGHT STRATEGY (NOT JUST FILING)

Objective: Build long-term brand protection, not single registrations.

KRAs:

Advise on:

  • Correct class selection
  • Brand naming risks
  • Logo vs wordmark strategy
  • Prepare and file:
  • Trademark applications
  • Copyright registrations

Monitor:

  • Status tracking
  • Office actions & responses

3.IP PREVENTION & MISUSE CONTROL

Objective: Stop IP disputes before they become litigation.

KRAs:

Draft & review:

  • NDAs
  • IP assignment clauses
  • Confidentiality provisions

Advise clients on:

  • IP usage by employees
  • Vendor / freelancer IP ownership
  • Identify early signs of:
  • Brand misuse
  • Copying
  • Passing off risks

4.IP ENFORCEMENT & DISPUTE HANDLING (LIMITED & STRATEGIC)

Objective: Resolve IP issues early, not escalate unnecessarily.

KRAs:

Draft:

  • Cease & desist notices
  • Legal replies
  • Recommend:
  • Negotiation vs enforcement
  • Settlement options

5.IP AWARENESS & CLIENT EDUCATION

Objective: Make clients legally conscious, not dependent.

KRAs:

Conduct:

  • IP awareness sessions
  • Founder/team trainings

Explain:

  • Why IP matters
  • How misuse happens
  • How IP creates valuation

6.INTERNAL COLLABORATION & SYSTEM DISCIPLINE

Objective: Ensure IP work aligns with contracts & compliance.

KRAs:

Coordinate with:

  • Corporate lawyers (SHA, SSA, employment contracts)
  • Compliance team

Ensure:

  • IP clauses align across documents
  • No contradiction in ownership language

7.DOCUMENTATION, TRACKING & QUALITY CONTROL

Objective: Maintain legal memory and accuracy.

KRAs:

Maintain:

  • IP trackers
  • Filing calendars
  • Renewal reminders

Ensure:

  • No missed deadlines
  • Complete documentation

8.CONTINUOUS LEARNING & LEGAL UPDATES

Objective: Keep IP advice current and reliable.

  • Registry practices
  • Landmark IP decisions

Share:

  • Monthly IP update notes internally
