Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Inventory Liquidation & Stock Optimization Manager with strong expertise in the Auto Spare Parts & Accessories industry.

The role will be responsible for ensuring that inventory remains liquid, productive and commercially viable, with a strong focus on reducing ageing, slow-moving and non-moving stock and preventing unnecessary inventory accumulation. The ideal candidate should have strong market/customer connect, inventory analytics, pricing & discounting expertise, and commercial understanding to convert inventory into sales while protecting

margins.

Key Responsibilities1. Inventory Liquidation & Ageing Management
  • Analyse inventory ageing across SKU, brand, category, model and location.
  • Develop and execute liquidation plans for slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete and excess inventory.
  • Define SKU-wise liquidation priorities based on ageing, value, demand and margin.
  • Monitor inventory turnover and ensure continuous stock movement.
  • Develop mechanisms to prevent inventory from becoming stagnant.

2. Data & Inventory Analytics
  • Analyse inventory ageing, stock holding, sell-through, inventory turnover, sales velocity and SKU performance.
  • Prepare regular MIS and dashboards for inventory movement and liquidation.
  • Identify dead stock and excess inventory through data-driven analysis.
  • Analyse customer purchase patterns and historical sales to identify potential buyers for specific inventory.
  • Track liquidation value, recovery value, discount impact and margin realization.

3. Customer & Market Development
  • Build and maintain a strong network of distributors, dealers, retailers, workshops and other trade customers.
  • Proactively approach customers for specific slow-moving or excess SKUs.
  • Map available inventory against customer demand and market requirements.
  • Develop alternate sales channels for products with low regular movement.
  • Maintain strong market intelligence on pricing, demand and competitor activity.

4. Pricing & Discount Management
  • Design SKU-wise/customer-wise discount structures for inventory liquidation.
  • Determine appropriate discount levels based on stock ageing, purchase cost, market price and expected recovery.
  • Balance liquidation speed with gross margin and contribution margin.
  • Develop promotional/bulk-buying offers for ageing inventory.
  • Monitor the impact of discounts on inventory recovery and profitability.

5. Commercial & Working Capital Management
  • Focus on reducing working capital blocked in inventory.
  • Monitor inventory value versus sales velocity.
  • Identify opportunities to convert dormant inventory into cash.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Sales, Purchase and Warehouse teams for liquidation decisions.
  • Recommend purchase controls based on inventory performance and demand trends.

6. Process & Control
  • Establish SKU-level inventory movement targets.
  • Create ageing buckets and liquidation action plans.
  • Set up regular review mechanisms for 30/60/90/120+ day inventory.
  • Develop escalation processes for high-value and long-ageing inventory.
  • Maintain accurate records of liquidation activities, pricing approvals and customer conversions.

Candidate Profile
  • 5–12 years of relevant experience in inventory liquidation, inventory management, commercial operations, sales or stock optimization.
  • Mandatory experience in Auto Spare Parts & Accessories industry.
  • Strong understanding of automotive spare parts, accessories, brands, applications and aftermarket distribution.
  • Strong customer and market network in the automotive aftermarket.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory ageing and liquidation strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of pricing, discounting, margins and commercial negotiations.
  • Advanced Excel/MIS and strong data interpretation skills.
  • Experience working with ERP/inventory management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take commercially sound decisions.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who understands that inventory is not an asset if it is not moving. The person should be commercially strong, highly data-driven and well connected with the automotive aftermarket, with the ability to convert ageing and excess inventory into sales and cash while protecting margins.
