Interior Designer

About the Role

GreenLine Station is looking for a Junior Interior Designer to lead projects from concept through handover. You will own design development on live residential and boutique commercial projects, drive material and detailing decisions, and work closely with the founder to translate intent into built outcomes. This is a hands-on role in a small studio — you will see projects through, not hand them off.

Key Responsibilities

•     Develop design concepts, spatial plans, and detailed drawing sets for residential and boutique commercial projects.

•     Produce working drawings, joinery details, and site-ready documentation in AutoCAD; build 3D models and visualisations in SketchUp and Enscape.

•     Prepare client-facing presentations, mood boards, and project documentation using Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office.

•     Specify materials, finishes, and fixtures, and maintain a point of view on trends without defaulting to them.

•     Conduct site visits, review execution quality, resolve on-site queries, and ensure that what gets built matches design intent.

•     Interpret client briefs, translate them into design direction, and present work with clarity.

•     Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and contractors on specifications, shop drawings, and delivery timelines.

•     Support the founder on sourcing, mood development, and visual presentations for client meetings.

Required Qualifications

•     Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from a reputed institution.

•     2–3 years of relevant experience at a design studio or architecture practice.

•     Strong working proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape.

•     Working proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop must; Illustrator optional; InDesign optional) for presentations, mood boards, and visual documentation.

•     Comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for proposals, BOQs, schedules, and client communication.

•     Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, execution-ready drawings.

•     Fluency in English and Tamil; intermediate Hindi preferred for vendor coordination.

Preferred Skills

•     A well-developed material and detailing vocabulary — comfort with veneers, finishes, stone, metal, and joinery systems.

•     Exposure to high-end residential or boutique commercial projects.

•     Sensitivity to Indian architectural traditions and contemporary design movements.

•     Ability to move between creative development and execution discipline without losing either.

Reporting and Environment

Reports directly to the Founder and Lead Designer. Based at the studio in Chennai, with regular site visits across the city and occasional travel for out-of-station projects.
