Job Summary
The Service Engineer HVAC Chillers is responsible for installation support, preventive maintenance, breakdown service, troubleshooting, and overhauling of HVAC chiller systems. The role ensures optimal performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and customer satisfaction across assigned customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Support installation, commissioning, and start-up of air-cooled and water-cooled chillers
- Verify system compliance with design specifications and safety standards
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and customers during commissioning
Service & Maintenance
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC chiller systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system faults
- Carry out overhauls, compressor servicing, oil analysis, and refrigerant handling
- Ensure timely closure of service calls and breakdowns
Technical Support
- Interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and control logic
- Calibrate sensors, valves, and control devices
- Ensure proper operation of pumps, cooling towers, and associated equipment
- Maintain compliance with OEM guidelines and statutory safety norms
Customer Management
- Interact with customers professionally and provide technical explanations
- Prepare service reports, root cause analysis (RCA), and recommendations
- Upsell AMC, spares, and service upgrades where applicable
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed service records and job reports
- Follow EHS guidelines, work permits, and safety procedures
- Support audits and quality improvement initiatives
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HVAC chiller systems (screw, centrifugal, scroll, reciprocating)
- Hands-on experience with refrigerants (R134a, R410A, R407C, etc.)
- Electrical troubleshooting (motors, VFDs, starters, panels)
- Familiarity with BMS, PLCs, and control systems
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and customer-handling skills
- Willingness to travel and work on-site
Desired Certifications (Preferred)
- HVAC / RAC Certification
- OEM Chiller Training (Carrier, Trane, Daikin, York, etc.)
- Electrical Safety / EHS Certification
Work Conditions
- Field-based role requiring travel to customer sites
- May require working in shifts, weekends, or during emergencies
- Physically capable of working in plant rooms and industrial environments
