As part of the Insurance Policy Operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring process excellence, accuracy, and trust across every stage of the insurance lifecycle.
Role Overview
The Insurance Operations Intern will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of insurance policies across health and life insurance segments. The role includes quote generation, proposal validation, documentation management, compliance adherence, renewals, and coordination with insurers and internal teams.
This position blends operational precision with proactive communication, requiring the individual to handle daily policy processing and limited outbound coordination calls to ensure timely closures, smooth issuance, and audit-ready documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Quote Generation & Proposal Management
Generate accurate and customised quotes for health and life insurance policies through insurer portals and internal tools.
Collaborate with sales or partner teams to capture customer details and recommend suitable product options.
Share premium illustrations, ensure accurate data entry, and track proposal conversion rates.
- Policy Servicing & Issuance
Manage proposal form validation, KYC checks, payment confirmations, and insurer coordination for policy issuance.
Review policy copies for accuracy in coverage, sum assured, and premium details before release.
Maintain end-to-end case logs with issuance dates, TAT compliance, and exception handling records.
- Documentation & Compliance
Ensure that every policy file is supported by complete documentation, including the proposal form, KYC, premium proof, and medical reports where applicable.
Maintain digital and physical documentation repositories in line with AssetPlus standards.
Ensure adherence to IRDAI guidelines, insurer SOPs, and company compliance frameworks at every stage of processing.
Participate in periodic audits and support internal compliance checks to maintain 100% data and document hygiene.
Flag discrepancies or incomplete files proactively to the Lead and rectify within set timelines.
Manage the renewal cycle by sending timely reminders and coordinating premium collections.
Process endorsements such as address changes, contact updates, or nominee modifications.
Maintain renewal and endorsement MIS with closure timelines and pending status visibility.
- Coordination & Calling Activities
Conduct limited outbound calls to partners, insurers, or customers for document collection, pending case closures, or clarifications.
Maintain professional call etiquette and ensure all call notes are logged into the CRM system.
Collaborate closely with internal operations, technology, and sales teams for the resolution of operational gaps.
- Reporting & Process Improvement
Update daily trackers for quotes, policies, renewals, and discrepancies.
Prepare weekly MIS reports highlighting productivity, accuracy, and SLA adherence.
Identify workflow bottlenecks and recommend process automation or simplification opportunities.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of life and health insurance products and operational workflows.
Excellent documentation and compliance discipline with strong attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordination and follow-ups.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, CRM tools, and insurer portals.
