Instructional Designer

Job Summary

The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) acts as a performance improvement consultant, focusing on analyzing business needs and identifying performance gaps to create effective learning or recommend non-learning solutions. Collaborating with business leaders and stakeholders, the ISD recommends evidence-based interventions such as blended learning programs, simulations, and digital experiences. The role requires strong analytical, consulting, and instructional design skills.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Consulting & Needs Analysis

• Conduct learning needs and performance gap analyses to identify root causes and business challenges.
• Partner with business stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand capability requirements.
• Recommend learning and non-learning interventions aligned with business objectives.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, interviews, focus groups, and performance reviews.

Instructional Design & Learning Solutions

• Design blended learning experiences, including instructor-led training, eLearning, virtual learning, simulations, coaching, and performance support.
• Develop learning objectives, curricula, assessments, storyboards, and design specifications.
• Apply adult learning principles and learning science to create engaging, learner-centered experiences.
• Design learning journeys that promote skill development, knowledge retention, and on-the-job application.

Simulation-Based Learning & Content Development

• Create scenario-based learning, simulations, branching exercises, role plays, and case studies.
• Develop eLearning modules, facilitator guides, participant guides, microlearning assets, job aids, and knowledge checks.
• Collaborate with SMEs to ensure learning content reflects real-world business scenarios.
• Ensure learning solutions meet quality, accessibility, branding, and usability standards.

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Manage multiple learning projects, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with business leaders, trainers, operations teams, quality teams, and SMEs.
• Facilitate design reviews and communicate project progress, risks, and recommendations.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop evaluation strategies and measurement plans aligned with business outcomes.
• Analyze learner feedback, assessment results, and operational performance metrics.
• Recommend improvements to learning solutions, design standards, and development processes.
