JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Active LED Video Wall Installation Engineer to handle the physical assembly, data/power wiring, and technical commissioning of complex Direct View LED (dvLED) video wall setup. He will be the hands-on expert on-site, ensuring pixel-perfect alignment, structurally sound mounting, and flawless signal routing. This role requires a blend of mechanical skill, low-voltage electrical knowledge, and software calibration expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Physical Mounting & Structure: Assemble, level, and anchor heavy-duty framing, ground-support structures, and wall-mount brackets according to structural blueprints.
  • Module & Cabinet Architecture: Mechanically install LED cabinets and delicate pixel modules with absolute precision, ensuring zero gaps, warped edges, or pixel damage.
  • Cabling & Termination: Pull, route, tie, and terminate low-voltage data cables (Cat6, fiber) and power lines cleanly from controllers to the display.
  • Commissioning & Calibration: Configure video wall processors, sending/receiving cards (e.g., NovaStar, Brompton, Colorlight), and scalers. Adjust color uniformity, brightness, and seams.
  • Signal Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex signal flow issues, EDID handshakes, power supply failures, and dead pixel modules on-site.
  • Documentation & Handoff: Read/interpret architectural drawings and signal flow schematics. Document completion and provide client training upon project wrap-up.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience specifically installing and commissioning Direct View LED (dvLED) or modular video walls.
  • Hardware Expertise: Deep knowledge of major LED brands (e.g., Unilumin, Planar, Samsung, LG, Absen) and structural mounting systems (e.g., Peerless-AV, Chief).
  • Processor Mastery: Proven proficiency with video wall processing software and hardware (e.g., NovaStar LCT/V-Can, Brompton Tessera, RGB Spectrum, Barco).
  • Networking & Signals: Strong grasp of AV network protocols, IP addressing, HDCP, and digital video signals (HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI).
  • Certifications (Highly Preferred):
    • AVIXA CTS or CTS-I.
    • Manufacturer-specific LED certifications (NovaStar, Absen, Planar, etc.).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Note: This is a highly active, physically demanding field position.

  • Must be comfortable working at heights on scaffolding, scissor lifts, or tall ladders (up to 20+ feet).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50–60 lbs regularly (led cabinets, structural steel, tools).
  • Excellent fine-motor skills and visual acuity (must have color vision to accurately calibrate panels and terminate fine wires).
  • Ability to work in tight spaces behind video walls and stand for extended periods.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to various project sites (local or regional) up to [Insert % here, e.g., 50%] of the time.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills under tight event or construction deadlines.
  • Professional client-facing and clear communication skills.
  • Extreme attention to detail—understands that a fraction of a millimeter off-level at the base results in an unusable display at the top.
