We are looking for an Internal Sales Engineer to join our Chennai office and play a key role in supporting our external sales team and customers while contributing to the continued growth of our business in India.
Role Purpose & Success Criteria
This is a dynamic and multifaceted role requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and excellent coordination skills. You will act as the central link between customers, the external sales force, and global technical teams—providing technical sales support, application guidance, and order management.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle incoming customer inquiries via phone and email with high responsiveness and professionalism
- Provide technical and commercial support to external sales engineers
- Proactively support lead generation and sales opportunities
- Pre qualify customer requirements (technical and commercial)
- Prepare quotations and follow up to closure
- Coordinate with global support teams and product specialists for complex or non-standard applications
- Take ownership of customer issues and ensure timely resolution
- Manage order entry and coordinate with logistics and internal teams
- Maintain excellent customer communication throughout the sales cycle
- Develop strong product and application knowledge through structured training and on-the-job learning
- Enhance commercial understanding and pricing awareness
- Attend product trainings, workshops, and share knowledge with the field sales team
Qualifications & Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in process instrumentation, automation, or process industry sales/support
- Educational background in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with products such as flow, level, pressure, and temperature instrumentation is highly desirable
- Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Disciplined and experienced user of CRM and ERP systems
- Fluent in spoken and written English (business level)
