Job Description

Main Business Context:

  • The Chloralkalis portfolio (150M spend) includes Caustic soda, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium and Potassium hydroxide.
  • Key raw materials for Home Care & Beauty & Personal Care business.
  • Consumption is spread across regions with numerous global, regional, and local suppliers.
  • Requires understanding of value chain: feedstock, energy, utilities, and cost model to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Logistics costs, especially inland transportation of caustic soda, form a significant portion of delivered costs.

Main Job Purpose:

  • Provide support and contribute to procurement initiatives for the assigned portfolio.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver Procurement KPIs: Value Improvement Programs, Innovation Delivery, Cost & Cash Targets, Gross Margin Improvement, Sustainability, etc., aligned with sourcing strategies and compliance.
  • Support security of key materials via contingency plans and alternative materials/suppliers in collaboration with R&D, BU teams, and suppliers.
  • Monitor material reports, market pricing, and supply-demand balances.
  • Work closely with suppliers and consuming countries to ensure material availability.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy and maintain price forecasts in coordination with Regional/Global teams.
  • Engage with R&D for alternate material approvals or formulation changes; lead regional implementation of global projects involving Inorganics.
  • Support cost savings delivery (NMCI) in line with sourcing strategies and compliance.
  • Assist Procurement Manager with tendering, benchmarking, and total cost analysis.
  • Support operation complexity reduction programs.
  • Continuously improve ways of working and handle data efficiently, cooperating with Enterprise Support and Capability Teams.
  • Support management and maintenance of supplier relationships and internal stakeholder relationships with market teams.
  • Support compliance initiatives: contract management, SQA/RS, specifications, etc.

Key Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in buying or procurement, preferably in chemicals.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Basic understanding of International Trade Duties, Taxes, etc.
  • Strong understanding of suppliers and the external competitive environment.
  • Experience in being accountable for target delivery.
  • Excellent Excel and PPT presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication/storytelling skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage timelines.
  • Strong stakeholder management for both internal and external partners.
  • Innovative mindset with out-of-the-box thinking.
