Job Description

Job Summary:

Job Summary: The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the implementation and support of core IT infrastructure, with a focus on supporting the long-term migration of on-premises environments to AWS. This role owns infrastructure across both environments during the transition — servers, networking, and backups — and will take on ownership of AWS operations as the migration progresses.

Required skills: hands-on experience with core AWS infrastructure services (EC2, RDS, S3/EBS, CloudWatch), and experience administering Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Veeam sufficient to support and migrate an existing on-prem environment to AWS.

Nice to have: Microsoft Entra ID, SonicWall firewall management, and Unifi.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure Management

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Hyper-V/EC2).
  • Support high availability, performance monitoring, and patching of server infrastructure.
  • Administer on-premises Active Directory, including OUs, group policy, and domain services.
  • Manage backup and recovery using Veeam for both virtual and physical workloads.
  • Provision and manage cloud infrastructure including EC2 instances, RDS databases, and AWS storage solutions (S3, EBS) to support scalability and performance.

Network Management

  • Support VPN configurations and troubleshoot connectivity issues (SoftEther VPN; Microsoft Global Secure Access (GSA) experience is a plus).
  • Manage network infrastructure including Unifi switches and access points.
  • (Nice to have) Administer SonicWall firewalls, including site-to-site VPNs, NAT, and security policies.

Monitoring, Patch, and Incident Management

  • Continuously monitor infrastructure health, performance, and alerting using tools such as PRTG and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Perform OS and application patching cycles across all managed servers.
  • Respond to infrastructure incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Document infrastructure changes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Ensure regular backup integrity testing and DR readiness using Veeam.
  • Support off-site and cloud-based recovery operations.
  • Maintain system documentation related to backup and recovery processes.

Collaboration & Cloud Platforms

  • Assign and manage basic user access, group memberships, license assignments, and application access in Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Support and manage Microsoft SharePoint Online environments for document collaboration.
  • Provide integration support for cloud and on-prem services where applicable.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with effective communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, system administration, or infrastructure/cloud operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux systems, Active Directory, Office 365, AWS Infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of networking, cloud services, and ITSM tools.
  • Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS Certified Security – Specialty are highly desirable.

General Responsibilities

Flexibility: The post holder may be required to work at any of the Mitra sites in line with service & operational needs. The post holder may be required to undertake such other duties temporarily, or on a continuing basis as may be required commensurate with this role. This may include periods of time working on client premises and / or internationally.
