Role Overview

Chubb is accelerating its cloud transformation, particularly around GCP and containerization. The Infrastructure Engineer - GCP will play a crucial role in driving this transformation by working with cloud platforms (primarily GCP), container platforms (Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The engineer will focus on automation, container adoption, and operational excellence across services offered by the cloud engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive cloud transformation projects to provide automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation.
  • Write and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Build operational capabilities for the cloud platform, ensuring smooth transitions to operations post-release.
  • Document, design, and implement controls and governance policies around GCP.
  • Educate end-users on the automation capabilities and services.
  • Identify manual tasks and automate them to remove inefficiencies.
  • Assist support teams during major production issues from an engineering perspective.

Key Requirements

  • Extensive experience with cloud transformation projects, specifically GCP.
  • Strong understanding of GCP services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, and Cloud Storage.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts (VPC, DNS, load balancing).
  • Experience with cloud security best practices, including IAM, Cloud Security Command Center, and Cloud Armor.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and Bash.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine).
  • DevOps experience with tools like GitHub, Jenkins, and Nexus for pipeline automation and artifact management.
  • Experience with TLS secure transports and authentication/authorization flows.
  • Familiarity with Python for automation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud platform is also a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT automation, with at least 2 years supporting GCP-based cloud automation and 2 years of experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Relevant GCP Certification is required.
