Your impact
Jacobs is seeking an Infrastructure Design Manager who will lead the multidisciplinary design delivery of complex infrastructure projects, ensuring high levels of integration, technical quality, cost efficiency, and programme certainty. You will oversee wet and dry utility designs, coordinate across all engineering disciplines, and ensure that design delivery aligns with Jacobs standards, client expectations, and DesignBuild requirements. The design manager will work closely with Project Managers, Discipline Leads, and Heads of Sectors, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and assuring the technical execution of infrastructure projects, while also mentoring and developing the design capability of the team.
Key responsibilities include
Development and implementation of multidisciplinary design strategies for infrastructure projects, ensuring technical integration and design coherence.Lead and manage the preparation, coordination, and delivery of wet and dry utilities designs including potable water, wastewater (including process), stormwater, power distribution, telecom, gas, and related infrastructure systems.Experience in water/wastewater treatment/ desalination projects, particularly within multidisciplinary delivery environments, is a strong advantage.Ownership and management of core design management documents- Project Responsibility Matrix

- Providing leadership in Design for DesignBuild (D for DB) delivery modelsensuring constructability, staging, risk mitigation, and alignment with contractor expectations.
- Identify and manage external/ JV Partner's/ Sub-Consultant's technical specialists and ensure integration of their inputs into the design process.
- Lead client engagement activities including presentations, workshops, design reviews, and technical discussions.
- Facilitate internal and external design coordination meetings and ensure timely resolution of design issues.
- Ensure that all design outputs meet quality, legislative, standards, and safety requirements, including HSE principles for safe design.
- Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback to discipline teams and junior staff to strengthen organisational capability.
- Support technical governance, QA/QC reviews, and ensure that all externally issued documents meet required quality standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across geographies to ensure consistency in application of design management processes.
- Experience working on international or geographically diverse infrastructure projects, demonstrating adaptability to global standards, codes, and multi-cultural delivery environments, is an added advantage.

Here's what you'll need
The ideal candidate will demonstrate
- 15+ years of experience in infrastructure design management within an engineering consultancy or EPC/DesignBuild environment.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams on medium to large infrastructure projects, including scope, schedule, and budget control.
- Demonstrated capability in delivery of wet and dry utilities and integrated infrastructure packages.
- Strong experience in Design for DesignBuild (D for DB), including constructability inputs and contractor interface.
- Experience leading design delivery in BIMenabled environments.
- Demonstrated interest in digital delivery and innovation, including adoption of new tools, automation, data-driven workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and quality.
- Excellent communication, coordination, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Experience in client presentations, tender technical submissions, and stakeholder management.
- Experience in change management processes, including assessment of design changes, impact analysis, and communication with stakeholders.
- Ability to develop level-of-effort (LOE) estimates for design tasks and support the preparation of bids, proposals, and design execution plans.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and permitting processes and drive to learn new standards as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Master's degree in Water Resources / Environmental Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) / Chartered Engineer (CEng) is highly desirable
