Job Description

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Infrastructure Automation Engineer to support the delivery of reliable, secure automation for our Unix/Linux infrastructure estate within Platform Engineering Configuration Management. This role is ideal for someone who is curious, eager to learn, and enjoys solving problems with code. You will work alongside senior engineers to develop and improve automation using Ansible and Bash, follow established engineering standards, and help reduce manual work through repeatable processes, testing, and documentation.

Why this role is important to us

The team you will be joining is a part of Platform Engineering Configuration Management, a function that is vital to the company because it helps deliver secure, consistent, and scalable infrastructure automation, reduces manual effort, and supports operational resilience and compliance across the Unix/Linux estate.

What you will be responsible for

As a Infrastructure Automation Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles to scan and configure Unix/Linux servers consistently and securely, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to automation repositories in Git by implementing small enhancements, fixing defects, improving role documentation, and updating inventories and variables.
  • Support CI/CD activities for automation changes, including linting, basic testing, packaging, release support, and troubleshooting failed pipeline runs.
  • Create, maintain, and automate operational and compliance reporting such as vulnerability status, configuration drift, and job success or failure using Splunk dashboards, searches, and Excel-based reporting where needed.
  • Participate in operational support activities, including investigating automation failures, reviewing data, updating Ansible objects, and contributing to continuous improvement through post-incident actions.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux administration fundamentals, including filesystems, permissions, processes, and basic networking.
  • Basic scripting ability in Bash and YAML, with a willingness to learn good practices such as error handling, logging, and safe patterns.
  • Working knowledge of Excel for reporting and basic data manipulation, along with basic Splunk knowledge for operational reporting and troubleshooting.
  • Comfort working with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and Ansible concepts such as inventories, playbooks, roles, variables, and idempotent configuration.
  • Strong attention to detail, clear communication skills, the ability to follow and improve documented processes, and basic knowledge of SSH key management, secure configuration practices, and security and compliance controls such as CIS and NIST.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is required.
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure automation or a related role.
  • Experience or familiarity with Ansible, Git, Bash, Splunk, Excel-based reporting, and Unix/Linux operational environments is preferred.

Additional requirements

Being flexible to work on weekend if required for release deployments.

Work Requirement

  • Shift timing: 13:00 - 22:00 IST.
