Project Role : Infra Tech Support Practitioner

Project Role Description : Provide L1–L2 technical support for infrastructure, systems, and applications in production and development environments, both remotely and onsite, following defined operating models and processes. Act as the primary interface with users/clients to accurately diagnose issues and deliver effective resolutions across infrastructure, operating systems, networks, and application platforms, ensuring service stability and quality support.

Summary:

As an Infra Tech Support Practitioner, a typical day involves delivering first and second level technical assistance for infrastructure, systems, and applications across both production and development settings. We are seeking an experienced Middleware Administrator with 5+ years of hands-on experience in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 8.5/9.0, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), and IBM Portal Administration. The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security implementation, patching, and supporting highly available enterprise middleware environments.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Expected to perform independently and become an SME.
  • Administer, configure, and support IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), IBM HTTP Server (IHS), and IBM WebSphere Portal environments across development, test, and production landscapes.
  • Manage and maintain WebSphere cells, deployment managers, nodes, clusters, application servers, and portal infrastructure to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Deploy, configure, and support enterprise applications, portal components, themes, and portlets, ensuring seamless integration across middleware platforms.
  • Configure and manage JDBC, JMS, data sources, connection pools, JNDI resources, web server plug-ins, virtual hosts, and URL routing.
  • Perform installation, upgrades, migrations, patching, fix pack implementation, and environment modernization for WebSphere, IHS, and Portal platforms.
  • Implement and support security configurations, including SSL certificates, LDAP integration, authentication, authorization, and access management.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application, server, portal, web server, JVM, connectivity, and performance issues using logs, dumps, and diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization of WebSphere JVMs, application servers, web servers, and portal environments.
  • Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and operational maintenance activities to ensure platform stability and business continuity.
  • Support incident, problem, and change management processes, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and service-level commitments.
  • Provide L2/L3 support for Production and Non-Production environments.
  • Participate in Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
  • Support DR exercises, failover testing, and environment validation activities.
  • Perform middleware health checks and capacity planning.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in CAB meetings, maintenance windows, and on-call support rotation.

Professional & Technical Skills:

  • Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Websphere Application Server & Portal Administration.
  • Strong understanding in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 8.5.x / 9.x
  • Experience in IBM HTTP Server (IHS), IBM WebSphere Portal Administration
  • Experience in Linux, AIX Administration
  • Experience in SSL / TLS Certificate Management
  • Experience in LDAP Integration (IBM Security Directory Server / Active Directory)
  • Experience in Clustering, High Availability & Load Balancing
  • Experience in JVM Performance Tuning
  • Experience in Application Deployment (EAR/WAR)
  • Experience in Shell Scripting (Unix/Linux)
  • Experience in WebSphere Security and Authentication
  • Experience in Troubleshooting, RCA and Log Analysis

Additional Information:

  • The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Websphere Application Server & Portal Administration.
  • This position is based at our Bengaluru office (location is flexible)
  • A 15 years full time education is required.
