In 2016, the Ministry of Education entrusted IIT Bombay with a pivotal mission: to establish the Research Park within the sprawling campus in Powai, Mumbai. Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Information Technology Support Intern to provide technical support and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and user-related issues, ensuring smooth day-to-day IT operations, and delivering timely support to employees. The internship duration will be for six months.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical Support
- Provide first-level and second-level technical support to end users for hardware, software, network, and application-related issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
- Troubleshoot operating system, email, and application issues.
- Assist users with password resets, account management, and access-related requests.
- Maintain and update IT support tickets and ensure timely resolution.
Network & Infrastructure Support
- Monitor and support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.
- Assist in configuring and maintaining network devices such as switches, routers, and access points.
- Support server administration activities, including user management and basic troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and maintenance activities.
System Administration
- Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or other enterprise platforms.
- Install software updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Support backup and recovery processes.
- Ensure endpoint security measures are implemented and maintained.
Asset Management
- Maintain inventory of IT hardware, software licenses, and accessories.
- Track asset allocation, movement, and disposal.
- Ensure proper documentation of IT assets and configurations.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and organizational procedures.
- Assist in IT audits and compliance-related activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and email systems.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi.
- Familiarity with Active Directory and user administration.
- Experience with IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
