About the role
We are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a Specialist - IT Operations to be based in our Hyderabad office with a hybrid working setup.
The Specialist - IT Operations is responsible for maintaining the operation and control of all implemented server, storage, and backup infrastructure at Orica.
This involves working with a team of Infrastructure Operations Specialists to maximise server performance and optimise storage capacity in compliance with the Service Level Agreements.
What you will be doing
Leadership and Direction
- Define, maintain, and promote server and storage standards and procedures and ensure alignment with Orica's IT strategy and business objectives
- Conduct detailed planning of all server and storage activities.
- Maintain a high standard of service and support by ensuring compliance of IT policies and procedures and where required creating and updating those policies and procedures
Server and Storage Management
- Manage the day-to-day planning, configuration and tuning of server and storage activities
- Ensure regular high-performance, scalable backups and restores are performed on a schedule and offsite storage is tracked
- Manage the troubleshooting, repair and replacement of procedures for server and storage solutions
- Ensure effective monitoring and alerting systems are in place for server and storage infrastructure to ensure a proactive response to potential incidents
- Ensure software and security compliance of server & storage operating systems & infrastructure through appropriate lifecycle management
- Engage service providers as necessary to ensure the provision of a robust and cost-effective service.
Reporting and Governance
- Review capacity, performance, availability, and other operational metrics and take appropriate action to ensure corrective and proactive maintenance of server, storage and backup systems to support the requirement to protect business information
- Implement and monitor server and storage control processes and ensure that procedures comply with regulatory requirements, security requirements and Orica's policies and standards
- Perform timely and regular reporting on the status of server and storage activities and any escalated potential risks/issues to the Infrastructure Operations Manager
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business, or comparable industry experience.
- 5+ years experience in a System Admin, Server, Storage, and Backup infrastructure operations and engineering support roles or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and maintaining Hybrid/Multi-cloud environments with either Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience in managing and remediating IT Security related vulnerability findings.
- Experience with Windows and Linux OS build, configuration, management, and automation.
- Experience in managing and maintaining Converged/Hyper-Converged infrastructure like DELL VxRail, Nutanix, HPE Bladesystem or Simplivity, Cisco UCS, or any similar technologies.
- Experience in managing and maintain virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM, and the likes.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, RDS/Terminal Services, SCCM, LAPS, Failover Cluster, IIS, File and Storage Services, and Azure AD SSO)
- Experience in managing and maintaining servers and storage technologies (e.g. DELL PowerEdge R-Series, VxRail , Commvault Backup, SAN/NAS storage
- Experience with any scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, bash, CMD, python, json, vbscript, etc).
- Experience with any monitoring tools like ServiceNow ACC Solarwinds, LogicMonitor, SCOM, VMware Tanzu Observability, and the likes.
- Knowledge in basic network concepts such as IP subnetting, ACLs, and routing.
