Opportunity for Industry 4.0 Transformation Consultant

with Indian Manufacturing Major

Contract | Immediate

Role: Industry 4.0 Transformation Consultant (Contract)

Duration: 6 Months

Reporting to: Head of IT Apps & Industry 4.0 (Vaibhav)

Location: Aurangabad

Role Overview

The client is seeking an experienced Industry 4.0 Transformation Consultant to drive the digital evolution of manufacturing facilities. Over a 6-month period, this consultant will partner with plant leadership and IT/OT teams to digitize complex, high-precision operations—from continuous fibre draw towers to discrete cleanroom assemblies. The goal is to implement smart factory initiatives that improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), maximize high-grade fibre yield, and provide end-to-end traceability for our datacenter clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Roadmapping: Conduct a gap analysis of current optical manufacturing operations and develop a 6-month roadmap for Industry 4.0 use cases tailored to both continuous (fibre drawing) and discrete (cable/interconnect assembly) processes.
  • IT/OT Integration: Bridge the gap between IT and OT by integrating high-precision shop-floor machinery (draw towers, stranding machines, polishing rigs) with enterprise systems (ERP, MES).
  • Digital Thread & Traceability: Implement solutions to ensure full component traceability (from raw glass preform to finished datacenter interconnect), a critical requirement for top-tier datacenter and telecom customers.
  • IIoT & Environmental Monitoring: Lead the deployment of Industrial IoT solutions to capture real-time machine data and monitor critical cleanroom environmental factors (temperature, humidity, particulate counts) to prevent yield loss.
  • Change Management & Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with plant managers and machine operators to drive adoption, while collaborating with external vendors specializing in optical manufacturing tech.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading Industry 4.0 or Smart Factory transformations, ideally within optical fibre, semiconductor, cable, or high-precision electronics manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of both continuous and discrete manufacturing processes, Lean principles, and yield optimization.
  • Hands-on knowledge of IIoT platforms, MES, cloud architectures, and industrial automation protocols (e.g., OPC-UA, MQTT).
  • Familiarity with the operational demands of cleanroom environments and high-speed precision manufacturing.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and project management skills.
