Industrial Robotics and Perception Engineer

Job Description:

As an Industrial Robotics and Perception Engineer, you will be supporting Top Company objectives by advancing the automation and robotic capabilities of our plants and stations. You will play a critical role in supporting the industrial system ramp-up for existing programs and developing a robust, technology driven foundation for next gen Aircrafts.

The profile involves working within the Industrial Automation and Robotics team to design and deploy high-performance robotic systems. Your expertise will bridge the gap between conceptual architecture and shop-floor execution that ensure our automated industrial systems are resilient, precise, and highly optimized.

The individual gets the opportunity to work on the entire spectrum of programs, from the existing Airbus aircraft fleet to future high-rate production systems.

Required Skills and Experience

Perception and AI :

• Knowledge on Computer vision, Conventional image processing techniques, feature extraction, Deep learning model training, explainability etc

• Develop perception algorithms that leverage sensor data (LIDAR, cameras, etc.) for object detection,3D/6D pose estimation, Action Recognition, Localization, and mapping in industrial environments.

• Develop/Integrate Libraries to gather data from the 1D/2D/3D sensors.

• Transformers, Foundation Models, VLA Models for Robotics.

• Point Cloud Processing (with PCL - Point Cloud Library):

  • Filtering: Voxel grid down sampling, statistical outlier removal.

  • Segmentation: RANSAC for fitting planes and other shapes.

  • Registration: Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm for aligning point clouds.

  • Clustering: Grouping points to find distinct objects.

  • Point cloud registration. Hands on on Open3D

Robotics Fundamentals:

• Fundamentals of Rigid Body motion.

• Forward and Inverse Kinematics.

• Robot Dynamics.

C++ ROS2 Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain ROS-based robotic software systems to ensure seamless integration between physical robots and software platforms.

• Enhance ROS-based software stack to support new robotic capabilities and automation workflows.

• Handle communication between the different ros2 nodes for Perception Planning and Control.

• Knowledge/experience on middleware's and inter process communications

• Proven production software development experience in C/C++, with a strong grasp of design patterns and solid principles.

Industrial Architecture & Project Leadership:

• Technical Deliverables: Take ownership of work packages and lead technical reviews, ensuring robotic solutions meet the highest industrial standards.

• Stakeholder Management: Coordinate the exchange of technical data between internal and global stakeholders to drive architecture projects toward best performance.

• Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain rigorous documentation of robotic application developments, version controls, and changes to ensure traceability and scalability.

• Strategic Alignment: Align the robotics roadmap with the organization's long-term business goals, capturing stakeholder needs to define architectural solutions that exceed expectations.

• Domain Knowledge: Best to have Airbus product knowledge of different programs along with basic knowledge on Structural assembly and Systems design

It is not expected for one person to have all the above skillset. The job requires the basic level of understanding of the above.

The Job role would also give exposure to different career paths under the perimeter of the Industrial Perception and Robotics for the manufacturing of Aircraft.

EDUCATION:

B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Tech. / M.E. in Mechanical / Industrial / Aeronautical/ Robotics & Automation Engineering or any related discipline
