Role Overview

The Industrial & IoT Wireless Specialist will serve as the lead technical specialist for non-traditional wireless technologies and Industrial IoT connectivity across the S+ Digital Programme.

The role will be responsible for evaluating, designing, engineering, and validating wireless connectivity solutions for industrial environments, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, security, interoperability, and operational suitability.

Key Responsibilities & Technical Skills

• Provide deep technical expertise in Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), including topology, range, coexistence, device behaviour, gateways, beaconing, and industrial use cases.
• Design and evaluate Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) solutions, including sub-GHz characteristics, range, power consumption, capacity, security, gateway/access-point integration, and use-case suitability.
• Provide strong expertise in LoRaWAN, including device classes, gateways, network-server integration, coverage, capacity, power efficiency, security, and telemetry-path design.
• Evaluate emerging Industrial IoT wireless technologies against criteria such as reliability, determinism, latency, power consumption, spectrum utilization, scalability, security, interoperability, lifecycle, supportability, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
• Perform industrial RF coexistence and interference planning across Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sub-GHz, LoRaWAN, private cellular, and other radio technologies deployed within industrial environments.
• Design and support integration of sensors, wireless gateways, industrial edge platforms, cloud/on-premises IoT platforms, and network security controls.
• Collaborate with network, security, infrastructure, and IoT teams while maintaining a clear separation between connectivity/platform engineering and application development responsibilities.
• Develop technology-selection assessments, reference architectures, HLDs, LLDs, configuration standards, test packs, and repeatable deployment patterns for industrial wireless solutions.
• Support technical validation, troubleshooting, optimization, deployment readiness, and operational handover of industrial wireless solutions.
• Contribute to the overall network architecture and product engineering framework across the programme.
  
  

Experience

• Strong experience in Industrial Wireless, IoT Connectivity, and Wireless Network Architecture.
• Hands-on expertise with Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi HaLow, and LoRaWAN.
• Proven experience with industrial RF, wireless coexistence, interference management, and connectivity design.
• Experience working with industrial IoT devices, sensors, gateways, edge platforms, and enterprise network/security environments.
• Ability to assess emerging wireless technologies and translate technical evaluations into scalable and supportable architectures.
• Strong experience producing technical architecture and engineering documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, reference architectures, test plans, and deployment standards.
