About the Role
We are looking for an Industrial Engineer who will be primarily responsible for collecting and analyzing data across various production processes within the factory and providing actionable recommendations to optimize production efficiency, safety and quality.
This role involves designing, analyzing, and improving complex systems and processes to streamline workflows, reduce waste, manage resources effectively, and ensure full compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate combines strong industrial engineering fundamentals with deep domain knowledge of food processing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization & Efficiency
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various production stages including raw material intake, grading, brining, processing, and packaging of gherkins
- Conduct time-and-motion studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks
- Design and implement process improvements to maximize throughput, minimize cycle time, and optimize resource utilization
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production processes
- Use industrial engineering tools such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, and kaizen methodologies
Quality Control & Food Safety Compliance
- Ensure all production processes comply with food safety standards including FSSAI, HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC, and GMP
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to monitor critical control points (CCPs) and implement corrective actions
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for quality deviations and implement preventive measures
- Support internal and external audits related to food safety and quality management systems
- Monitor microbiological, chemical, and physical parameters specific to gherkin processing and preservation
Waste Reduction & Cost Optimization
- Analyze material yield, reject rates, rework, and scrap data to identify waste reduction opportunities
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate non-value-adding activities across the production line
- Track and report cost-per-unit, material consumption, and energy usage metrics
- Propose and execute projects aimed at reducing operational costs without compromising quality
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Monitor raw material inventory levels, shelf-life tracking, and reorder points to prevent production disruptions
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of gherkins and other raw materials
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage conditions, and material flow within the factory
- Analyze supply chain data to improve lead times, reduce holding costs, and enhance supplier performance
Sustainability & Environmental Compliance
- Support sustainability initiatives including water conservation, energy efficiency, and waste-to-value programs
- Monitor and report on environmental metrics such as water usage, effluent treatment, and carbon footprint
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations applicable to agro-processing units
- Identify and implement green manufacturing practices suited to food processing operations
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect production data from various internal systems and processes and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports
- Build dashboards and visual reports to communicate process performance, trends, and improvement opportunities to management
- Use statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor and improve process stability
- Present data-driven recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree (B. Tech / B.E.) in Food Technology / Food Processing Technology or a closely related discipline
- Master's degree (M. Tech / M.Sc.) in Food Processing / Food Engineering / Industrial Engineering with specialization in food processing
- Additional certification in Industrial Engineering, Lean Six Sigma or Production Management is preferred.
- Certification in HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC Global Standards is preferred.
- Familiarity with FSSAI regulations and compliance requirements is preferred.
- A hands-on knowledge of lug capping machines and can seaming machines is essential for this role
