Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Industrial Designer to lead the design and development of bags across categories including backpacks, laptop bags, sling bags, tote bags, duffels, travel bags, and pouches. This role requires a strong understanding of softgoods design, materials, construction techniques, user needs, and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Development
Lead end-to-end design of bags from concept to production.
Develop concepts through sketches, CAD models, renderings, and prototypes.
Create moodboards, CMF (Color, Material, Finish) directions, and product stories aligned with brand positioning.
Design innovative storage, organization, comfort, and utility features.
Balance aesthetics, functionality, durability, and cost targets.
Technical Development
Create detailed tech packs, BOMs, specification sheets, and construction drawings.
Define materials, trims, hardware, zippers, buckles, webbings, and fabric specifications.
Work closely with factories and vendors to ensure production feasibility.
Review samples and prototypes, driving improvements in quality, fit, comfort, and functionality.
Support testing and validation to ensure product durability and performance.
Research & Innovation
Stay updated on global trends in bags, travel gear, and lifestyle accessories.
Explore sustainable materials, innovative constructions, and emerging consumer preferences.
Conduct user research and translate insights into product improvements.
Requirements
1–3 years of experience in Bag Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or Accessories Design.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Fashion Accessories Design, or related field.
Strong portfolio showcasing backpacks, laptop bags, travel bags, tote bags, or similar softgoods products.
Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhino, SolidWorks, KeyShot, or equivalent design tools.
Strong understanding of bag construction, pattern development, textiles, trims, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of fabrics such as polyester, nylon, canvas, PU, recycled materials, mesh, and EVA components.
Strong eye for aesthetics, materials, color, functionality, and user experience.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
