Chief Data Office

The Chief Data Office (CDO) is responsible for defining and delivering Wells Fargo's enterprise data strategy, including data governance, data platforms, analytics enablement, and responsible AI. The CDO partners closely with Technology, Risk, and Business leaders to modernize the data ecosystem while maintaining strong controls and regulatory compliance.

Role Overview

The Head of CDO India is a senior executive responsible for leading and modernizing Enterprise Data Governance, Assets, Analytics, and Technology across India. This role is a key member of the global CDO leadership and Technology I&P leadership teams and serves as the senior accountable leader for CDO delivery in India, overseeing delivery of scalable, compliant, and modern data capabilities aligned to enterprise strategy, regulatory expectations, and business outcomes.

This executive provides end-to-end accountability for CDO execution in India, including data governance, enterprise data strategy execution, technology modernization, analytics enablement, and risk management. The role leads large, globally distributed teams and strategic vendor partners and represents India technology capabilities within global CDO and Wells Fargo Technology forums.


In this role, you will:

  • Provide vision and set direction for all of technology development and infrastructure or service component for a defined business unit
  • Manage and allocate appropriate people and financial resources to ensure that projects are completed within committed time and budget, and align with strategic objectives
  • Develop and monitor long range information technology plans and policies consistent with the strategic objectives and plans of the business unit
  • Identify capacity planning, efficiency, availability, business enablement and time to market
  • Provide comprehensive consultation to more experienced management regarding business requirements
  • Recommend innovations which anticipate the future directions of both business and information technology
  • Provide technology solutions for the large business unit, including application portfolio standardization and rationalization
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 6+ years of Management experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Executive leadership experience in large, highly regulated financial services organizations.
  • Experience in data strategy, governance, and tooling leadership in the financial services industry, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Proven success leading enterprise-scale data and analytics platform modernization.
  • Strong background in technology risk management, controls, and regulatory engagement.
  • Experience operating in product-centric and agile delivery models.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformation, manage ambiguity, and drive change at scale.


Job Expectations:

CDO Strategy & Execution

  • Define and execute multi-year CDO strategies for India, aligned with global Enterprise Data Strategy, Wells Fargo Technology priorities, and regulatory expectations.
  • Serve as the senior accountable leader across India for managing CDO's business to drive outcomes, including data governance, tooling, platforms, and analytics.
  • Translate Enterprise Data Strategy into scalable, executable technology outcomes with measurable business impact.
  • Drive execution across all the pillars of the Enterprise Data Strategy.
  • Represent CDO India organization in global leadership, investment, and governance forums.
  • Partner with other CIO I&P leaders to solve horizon technology issues.
  • Drive a culture of innovation and use of AI to simplify and automate CDO processes.

Enterprise Data Platforms

  • Own delivery and modernization of enterprise data and analytics platforms, including cloud-based and on-prem solutions.
  • Drive application rationalization, platform consolidation, and simplification to reduce complexity, cost, and operational risk.
  • Improve time to market, scalability, resiliency, performance, and cost efficiency of data technology services.
  • Ensure technology solutions are designed for reuse, standardization, and enterprise-wide adoption.

CDO Shared Services

  • Drive scalable shared data technology capabilities for CDO, including Information Architecture, AI enablement and delivery, shared technology development, and production management services.

Enterprise Data Simplification and Management

  • Drive a rationalized and consistent approach to aggregating, provisioning and consuming data through Approved Data Sources (ADSs) across the enterprise.
  • Support simplification of the enterprise data environment through establishment of ADSs and reducing data duplication.

Enterprise Data Governance

  • Drive execution of enterprise data strategy, adoption of Data Management Policy and Procedures, and effectiveness of the Data Management Risk scorecard.
  • Ensure strong data risk management, including data quality, metadata, lineage, transparency, controls, and issue remediation.
  • Improve data literacy through delivery of comprehensive role-based training program

Corporate Functions Domain

  • Partner across the Corporate Functions to ensure adherence to the Data Management Policy and Procedures, while advancing simplification efforts

Enterprise Data Assets & Solutions

  • Enable business growth and cost efficiency through delivery of centrally-governed, consumable suite of enriched data products and enterprise authorized data sources
  • Drive enhancement and execution of data governance tooling strategy delivering and integrated enterprise tool for efficient governance, compliance, and centralized data management

Issues Management

  • Act as a senior escalation point for material data technology and data risk issues impacting India delivery.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and Issues Management teams to ensure regulatory readiness and audit sustainability.
  • Embed governance and control expectations into technology delivery, analytics enablement, and vendor services.

Enterprise Analytic Enablement

  • Enable advanced analytics and AI through trusted, governed, and scalable analytics platforms and capabilities.
  • Deliver best in class analytical solutions enabling business insights to drive revenue generation.
  • Partner with analytics and AI leaders to support responsible, compliant, and secure AI enablement.
  • Ensure analytics platforms balance innovation and insight generation with strong governance and control discipline.

People, Operating Model & Vendor Leadership

  • Lead and develop large, globally distributed data, technology and engineering teams across India.
  • Build a high-performance, inclusive culture focused on talent development, succession planning, continuous learning, and campus recruiting.
  • Establish a scalable operating model that supports product-centric delivery and agile execution.
  • Oversee strategic vendor and partner relationships, ensuring performance, financial discipline, and risk management.
  • Drive a culture in the region that shifts mindset from execution to ownership improving overall engagement
