The firm is looking to recruit a dynamic individual to lead the accounting team in India as we expand our operations in the region.
Successful candidates for this position require hands-on professional experience with financial accounting, reporting and internal control related responsibilities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and liquidity/funding management for local entities.
- Partner with the tax department and external advisors to manage and review all required tax filings.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams and external advisors on regulatory filings and related requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely completion of statutory and tax audits.
- Manage transfer pricing matters, including reviews, documentation and issue resolution.
- Work closely with various functional teams across various jurisdictions on finance and accounting-related matters.
- Support ad-hoc management requests and projects (e.g., impact assessment of new accounting standards, new transactions, and new business initiatives).
- Work with the Asia Controller and Deputy Controller to provide leadership, direction and oversight to a team of analysts.
- Work closely with APAC controllers and functional teams across jurisdictions to support regional entity coverage and India business initiatives (e.g., office openings, relocations, new business activities).
- Stay current on local regulatory and tax requirements (GST, withholding tax, transfer pricing, RBI, SEBI, MSME, MCA, etc.) and implement processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Coach, mentor and develop junior team members.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Approximately 15 years of experience in a financial accounting role, ideally with a strong public accounting background and experience in the financial services industry.
- CPA or CA qualification is mandatory.
- Very strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP, Indian GAAP and IFRS.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- High level of proficiency with web-based applications and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-service mindset.
- Solid analytical skills, sound judgment and strong attention to detail.
- A collaborative team player who is also willing to be hands-on and operate at both strategic and execution levels.
