The Role
They're looking for an India Engineering Lead to own and grow the engineering function out of India. You'll combine technical depth with people leadership — driving architecture and delivery on a SaaS platform handling large volumes of data and events, while building and mentoring a high-performing local team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the India engineering team — hiring, mentoring, and setting the technical bar
- Own key areas of the platform from design through delivery, with accountability for architecture and execution
- Drive the design and implementation of data processing subsystems and AI/ML features from concept to production
- Partner with product and cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business goals over a 2–5 year horizon
- Uphold high standards for code quality through reviews, feedback, and engineering best practices
- Stay current on emerging technologies and bring forward ideas that improve the product and team
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience, with a track record in senior or lead roles
- Proficiency in Java or Golang (both a strong plus)
- Experience building and scaling SaaS backend systems on public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong background in microservices, distributed systems, and API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container technologies
- Familiarity with large-scale data/event frameworks (Kafka, Flink, Redis, Kinesis, or similar)
- Prior exposure to AI/ML technologies (LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, or similar)
- Experience managing or leading engineering teams is a strong plus
- Open source contributions are a bonus
