GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

This role provides end-to-end legal support for commercial contracting and vendor contracting across India, for all solution lines of Aon. It leads contract drafting, negotiation, and contract lifecycle management, while also handling IPR matters, related legal documentation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The colleague is responsible for:

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of vendor contracts and commercial contracts for all solution lines, of Aon and ensure alignment with Aon policies and business objectives.
Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including risk identification, issue resolution, and timely closure of agreement negotiation to support revenue growth and avoid legal bottlenecks.
Provide legal advice on intellectual property (IPR), disclaimers, and domain license renewals, ensuring compliance with applicable Indian laws and internal guidelines.
Partner closely with business, finance, and other stakeholders to structure commercially viable, legally robust solutions and support strategic initiatives.
Develop, standardize, and continuously improve contract templates, playbooks, and processes to drive efficiency and consistency in contracting.
Conduct trainings and awareness sessions for business teams on contract management, legal risk, and compliance requirements.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments in India relevant to Aon's operations and advise management on potential impact and mitigation strategies.
Manage and coordinate commercial litigation and pre-dispute matters (including responding to legal notices, evaluating claims, and working with external counsel), while aiming for pragmatic, cost-effective resolutions.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong expertise in commercial contract drafting and negotiation (commercial contracts and vendor agreements) with the ability to independently handle complex, high-volume matters.
  • Deep understanding of Indian contract law, commercial law and related regulations, with sound judgment on risk allocation and mitigation in contracts.
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end contract lifecycles, prioritize competing deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner with business, finance and other teams, influence outcomes, and communicate legal issues in clear, practical language.
  • Experience in intellectual property, with a strong eye for detail and compliance.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills to design and deliver sessions on contract management, legal risk and processes for business teams.
  • High level of ownership, collaboration and one team mindset to support rebalancing of work across solution lines and to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, documentation and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare concise notes, guidance and reports for senior stakeholders.
