Job Description Summary:
Responsible for coding, unit testing, building high performance and scalable applications that meet the needs of millions of Walmart-International customers, in the areas of supply chain management & Customer experience.
About Team:
Our team collaborates with Walmart International, which has over 5,900 retail units operating outside of the United States under 55 banners in 26 countries including Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few.
What you'll do:
You are responsible for coding, unit testing, building high performance and scalable applications that meet the needs of millions of Walmart-International customers, in the areas of supply chain management & Customer experience.
You are expected to be more intellectually curious engineer who is passionate about domain/technology in general.
What you'll bring:
Java (11/17/21+) — Proficiency in modern Java features including records, sealed classes, virtual threads, and pattern matching
JVM Internals — GC tuning, memory model, class loading, and performance profiling
Spring Boot / Spring Framework — Building production-grade microservices with Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data
RESTful + GQL API Design — API versioning, pagination, error handling, and Swagger documentation
Concurrency & Multithreading — Executors, Completable Future, reactive streams, and thread-safe design patterns
AI Understanding — LLMs, GenAI Integration, RAG, Vector DBs, Agentic AI
SQL & Relational Databases — Advanced SQL, query optimization, indexing strategies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, AzureSQL)
NoSQL Databases — Experience with Cassandra, Cosmos DB, or DynamoDB for high-throughput workloads
Caching — Redis or Memcached for distributed caching strategies
Kafka / Event Streaming — Event-driven architecture, producers/consumers, and exactly-once semantics
Microservices Architecture — Service decomposition, inter-service communication (sync/async), and domain-driven design
Design Patterns — GoF patterns, SOLID principles, and distributed system patterns (Circuit Breaker, Saga, CQRS)
System Design — Ability to design scalable, fault-tolerant systems handling high throughput (Walmart-scale traffic)
API Gateway & Service Mesh — Experience with Istio, Envoy, or similar service mesh technologies
Kubernetes / WCNP — Container orchestration, pod lifecycle, deployments, and scaling strategies
Cloud Platforms — Azure or GCP experience for cloud-native application deployment
CI/CD Pipelines — Concord, Looper, Jenkins, or similar tools for build and deployment automation
Infrastructure as Code — Terraform or equivalent for managing cloud resources
Testing — Unit (JUnit 5, Mockito), integration, contract testing, and TDD/BDD practices
Observability — Distributed tracing, logging (SLF4J/Logback), and metrics (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk)
Code Quality — SonarQube, static analysis, code coverage (>85%), and secure coding practices
Git & GitHub — Branching strategies, code reviews, and pull request workflows
Build Tools — Maven or Gradle for dependency management and build automation
Containerization — Docker for building and managing container images
Technical Mentorship — Ability to mentor IN2/IN3 engineers and lead technical discussions
Cross-team Collaboration — Experience working with distributed teams across time zones
Technical Documentation — Writing clear design docs, ADRs, and runbooks
Problem Solving — Strong debugging skills and root cause analysis in production environments
Ownership & Accountability — End-to-end ownership from design through production support

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years experience in software engineering or related area.
