About Team
Join our dynamic Technical Writing team at Walmart Connect, where you'll play a crucial role in creating and maintaining high-quality API documentation for our Walmart Developer Portal. Your work will directly support our Sponsored Search and Onsite Display product APIs, ensuring that engineers have access to clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical resources.
What will you do
As an API Technical Writer, you'll be responsible for crafting well-written, professional documentation that meets the needs of our developer community. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements, translate complex technical concepts into accessible content, and maintain the highest standards of accuracy and clarity in our documentation.
Develop, maintain, and proofread API technical documentation for the developer portal.
Collaborate with subject-matter experts to gather information, review technical specifications, and gain understanding of Walmart Connect products for building API reference materials.
Write clear, concise, and user-friendly content that adheres to industry standards and guidelines.
Partner with Product Managers and Developers to document product capabilities and new features.
Manage documentation requests and meet project management SLAs.
Organize and structure technical content for optimal user experience.
What will you bring
Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Business, or related field
6+ years of experience in technical writing, engineering, product, or a related technical field
Strong analytical and written communication skills
Understanding of API basics and REST API concepts
Proficiency in HTML, XML, and Markdown
Experience with tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, GitHub, and Jira
Ability to quickly learn and understand technical information
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
2+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., GitHub)
Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Readme)
Knowledge of software development processes and methodologies
