Position Summary...
As the Group Director Replenishment & eCommerce Technologies for Sam's Club at the India Development Center (IDC) in Bangalore, you will lead a multi-domain engineering organization responsible for building and operating the technology platforms that power end-to-end replenishment and digital commerce capabilities.
Your scope spans Replenishment Technologies (demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supply planning, allocation, and flow management) and eCommerce Platforms (digital storefront, order management, pricing, promotions, search, and fulfillment integration), all developed and supported from IDC for our primarily U.S.-based operations.
In this role, you will translate business and product strategy into scalable software, data, and AI-driven solutions across cloud-native platforms, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation. You will cultivate a strong leadership bench, drive engineering excellence and operational rigor, and collaborate closely with U.S.-based product, supply chain, and business leaders to enhance in-stock performance, improve member experience, and accelerate growth across replenishment and eCommerce.

What You'll Do (Top Responsibilities)
- Lead the IDC Replenishment & eCommerce Technology Portfolio. Own the strategy and end-to-end execution for the Replenishment and eCommerce technology portfolio anchored in IDC, encompassing capabilities such as demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supply planning, allocation, and inventory accuracy, along with digital commerce platforms including catalog and item data, pricing and promotions, order management, search and discovery, and omni-channel fulfillment integration.
- Build scalable, AIenabled platforms for club operations and merchandising. Guide teams to design and deliver robust, secure, and highly available platforms spanning mobile apps, cloudnative services, data platforms, and AI/ML capabilities that support inclub workflows, omnifulfillment, and merchandising decisioning at Sam's Club scale.
- Serve as site leader and culture champion for IDC Retail Technologies. Act as the senior-most leader for these domains in Bangaloresetting vision and operating rhythms; attracting, developing, and retaining top engineering and data science talent; and fostering a culture of learning, ownership, and inclusion that reflects Walmart values.
- Bridge U.S. and India teams to deliver business outcomes. Partner closely with U.S.-based product, engineering, merchandising, operations, finance, and data science leaders to translate strategy and business problems into clear roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and execution plans; ensure effective waysofworking across time zones and locations.
- Drive engineering excellence and platform reliability. Establish and enforce standards for software architecture, data quality, observability, security, and cost efficiency. Ensure systems meet demanding nonfunctional requirements including scalability, performance, and reliability for missioncritical operations.
- Manage crossdomain portfolio, governance, and investment. Own portfolio planning and prioritization across multiple product areas, balancing foundational platform work with clubfacing capabilities. Manage budgets and vendor relationships, ensure compliance and risk management, and continuously optimize investments for longterm value.
- Grow and mentor a strong leadership bench. Lead and develop a team of Directors, Senior Managers, Principal/Distinguished Engineers, and Data Science leaders. Provide coaching, feedback, and career development to scale leadership capacity and enable empowered, autonomous teams.
What You'll Bring (Top Qualifications)
Deep expertise in Replenishment and eCommerce domains.
Extensive experience with technologies that power end-to-end replenishment and digital commerce ecosystems, including demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supply planning and allocation, order management, digital catalog and item master, pricing and promotions, search and personalization, omni-channel fulfillment, vendor integration, and advanced commerce analytics.
Proven largescale engineering leadership.
15+ years of experience in software engineering, with 8+ years leading multilayer organizations (through Directors and Sr. Managers) delivering missioncritical systems. Demonstrated success running complex, multiproduct portfolios and platform roadmaps in a global environment.
Strong technical foundation across modern architectures and data/AI.
Handson familiarity with cloudnative, distributed systems; microservices and APIs; enterprise data platforms; and the practical application of AI/ML (including computer vision and data science) in production systems. Able to provide highlevel architectural guidance and technical oversight.
Productdriven, metricsoriented mindset.
Track record of partnering with Product and Business leaders to shape strategy, define success metrics, and execute against clear outcomebased roadmaps. Comfortable using data to prioritize, experiment, and iterate quickly while managing risk for missioncritical operations.
Exceptional people and stakeholder leadership.
Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain senior engineering leaders; build inclusive, highperforming cultures; and influence senior executives and crossfunctional stakeholders across engineering, product, operations, and merchandising.
Global Collaboration And Communication Skills.
Experience leading distributed teams and collaborating across geographies and time zones. Able to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, businessrelevant way to senior leaders and nontechnical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical fields, including at least 8 years managing managers (Directorlevel or equivalent) in highscale product or platform organizations.
- Experience building and operating technology for retail, ecommerce, or other largescale transactional and inventoryintensive businesses.
- Demonstrated experience leading crossfunctional programs and portfolios that span multiple domains and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience in wholesale club, bigbox retail, or grocery environments.
- Background in AI/ML, data science, or computer vision applications in Club or merchandising contexts.
- Prior experience establishing or scaling a technology center/COE in India or another global location.
