Job Description & Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering medium to large-scale business and technology projects that support organizational and strategic objectives. This role partners closely with business leaders, sponsors, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project planning, execution, governance, risk management, and benefits realization.
The Assistant Project Manager operates with minimal supervision, manages multiple concurrent initiatives, contributes to PMO excellence, and supports program management activities. The role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders, project teams, and senior leadership to drive successful project outcomes while ensuring compliance with organizational methodologies and governance standards.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Delivery
Lead the end-to-end delivery of medium to large-scale projects from initiation through implementation and closure.
Develop and maintain project charters, business cases, project plans, schedules, resource plans, communication plans, and deployment strategies.
Define project scope, objectives, success criteria, deliverables, and milestones in alignment with business goals.
Ensure project delivery within approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality parameters.
Manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
Stakeholder Management
Partner with business sponsors, functional leaders, technology teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure successful project execution.
Build strong relationships across the organization and facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams.
Conduct project governance forums, steering committee meetings, and stakeholder reviews.
Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting on project progress, risks, and outcomes.
Project Governance & PMO Support
Ensure adherence to project management methodologies, standards, and governance requirements.
Support PMO initiatives, project portfolio reviews, and reporting processes.
Maintain project documentation and ensure audit readiness.
Facilitate stage-gate reviews and obtain required approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
Risk, Issue & Change Management
Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate project risks and dependencies.
Maintain risk and issue logs and drive timely resolution of escalated concerns.
Lead scope and change management processes while ensuring appropriate stakeholder approvals.
Escalate project concerns proactively and provide recommended solutions.
Resource & Financial Management
Coordinate resource planning and allocation in partnership with functional managers and business leaders.
Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures.
Track project financial performance and support ROI and benefits realization activities.
Optimize resource utilization while balancing project priorities and business needs.
Business Transformation & Continuous Improvement
Support business transformation initiatives and organizational change efforts.
Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes, governance frameworks, and operational effectiveness.
Apply best practices, lessons learned, and process improvement methodologies across projects.
Contribute to the development of project management standards and reusable delivery assets.
Team Leadership & Mentoring
Lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior project managers, project coordinators, and team members.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Support capability-building initiatives within the Project Management and PMO community.
Testing, Implementation & Closure
Ensure testing, deployment, and transition activities are planned and executed effectively.
Coordinate business readiness and implementation activities.
Lead post-implementation reviews and lessons learned sessions.
Ensure successful project closure and transition into business-as-usual operations.

13+ years of overall professional experience.
Minimum 10+ years of Project Management experience.
Proven experience managing medium to large-scale business, operational, technology, transformation, or process improvement initiatives.
Experience working in matrixed, global, and cross-functional organizations.
Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
Master's degree preferred.
