About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded In-House Legal Counsel with 2–3 years of experience to provide practical legal support across the organization.
The role focuses on contract drafting and negotiation, media and entertainment transactions, intellectual property, production matters and general commercial advisory. The candidate will work closely with business, creative, production and leadership teams, manage routine matters independently and escalate complex or high-risk issues appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial and entertainment-related agreements.
- Manage agreements with artists, actors, writers, directors, producers, vendors, agencies, brands and other partners.
- Review NDAs, service agreements, consultancy agreements, artist agreements, endorsement agreements, licensing agreements and other contracts.
- Identify legal and commercial risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Provide day-to-day legal support to internal teams and management.
- Support films, digital content, OTT and other entertainment projects, including production, post-production and distribution-related legal requirements.
- Review agreements with artists, cast, crew, vendors and creative collaborators.
- Support rights acquisition, licensing, assignments, releases and content clearances.
- Advise on copyright, trademarks, personality/publicity rights and other IP matters.
- Assist with IP due diligence, chain-of-title documentation and the use of third-party content, music, footage, photographs and artwork.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain contracts, approvals, legal records and rights documentation.
- Improve internal legal processes, checklists and templates.
- Coordinate with external counsel on specialized matters and disputes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- LL.B. from a recognized university.
- Enrolment with the Bar Council of India / relevant State Bar Council.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Media & Entertainment, IP, Corporate/Commercial law or a law firm.
- Strong contract drafting, review and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of the Indian Contract Act, Copyright Act, Trade Marks Act and related laws.
- Strong legal research, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to explain legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, commercial judgement and ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Media and entertainment contracts, including artist, talent, film, OTT, production and co-production agreements.
- Licensing, assignment, rights acquisition, content clearance and distribution arrangements.
- Brand endorsement agreements.
- Copyright, trademark and personality rights.
- IP due diligence and chain of title.
